The February 27, 2026, Pokémon Presents marked 30 years since Pokémon Red and Green debuted in Japan. Its biggest reveal was Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, two Nintendo Switch 2 RPGs planned for a simultaneous global launch in 2027. The presentation also covered 2026 game releases, classic games returning to Nintendo platforms, updates to Pokémon services, a physical music player, and the World Championships.
Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves headline the announcements
The Pokémon Company revealed Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves as two upcoming role-playing games for Nintendo Switch 2, with a simultaneous global launch planned for 2027. The first presentation showed the main characters, distinctive new Pikachu, and new first partner Pokémon against a setting of windswept islands and ocean. The announcement did not provide starter names or detailed gameplay information. The Pokémon Company’s recap has the reveal details.
New and returning games coming in 2026
Pokémon Pokopia arrives March 5
Pokémon Pokopia was announced for Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5, 2026. Players shape the world and build a life with Pokémon. The presentation highlighted DJ Rotom, a stereo-shaped Rotom form that plays CDs found during adventures, and Chef Dente, a special Greedent who teaches cooking and serving dishes. Local and online multiplayer supports up to four players, according to Nintendo’s recap and the Pokémon announcement.
Pokémon Champions targets an April Switch launch
Pokémon Champions was planned for Nintendo Switch in April 2026 and was also slated for the video-game competition at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. The presentation promoted a Dragonite gift for early downloaders and a campaign involving Mega Stones for Pokémon that Mega Evolve in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The Pokémon recap directs players to the Pokémon Champions website for details on Pokémon HOME connectivity and in-game helpers.

Mega Garchomp Z and Pokémon HOME for Legends: Z-A
Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC introduced Mega Garchomp Z. Players were told they could claim a Mystery Gift encounter and receive Garchompite Z after winning the battle. Nintendo noted that the full base game is required for the DLC.
The presentation also announced planned Pokémon HOME connectivity: players would be able to send Pokémon from Legends: Z-A to HOME and add select Pokémon from earlier games to their team. Transfers were tied to Mystery Gifts of alpha Chikorita, alpha Tepig, and alpha Totodile.
FireRed and LeafGreen return; Pokémon XD comes to Switch 2
Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version returned on the Nintendo Switch family of systems, retaining the games as they were on Game Boy Advance and supporting transfers of caught Pokémon into Pokémon HOME. Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was announced for Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2026 through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Unlike the GBA rereleases, Pokémon cannot be transferred into or out of Pokémon XD.

Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon TCG Pocket
The physical Pokémon Trading Card Game segment showed classic cards and teased products commemorating the 30th anniversary, planned for release during 2026 in participating markets. The presentation did not identify specific sets or products.

Pokémon TCG Pocket had limited-time missions and anniversary rewards scheduled for February 27 through June 26, 2026. That event period has passed.
Pokémon GO
The 2026 recap laid out several time-limited Pokémon GO events: a global Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos on February 28–March 1, a Kanto-themed event on March 3–6, and the return of a broad set of Pokémon on March 7–9. It also gave the code GOTOURKALOS for a Kalos first partner Pokémon. These dates and the code are historical, not active offers.

Pokémon UNITE
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres were announced as playable Pokémon available through a limited-time event. The presentation also teased an Electrode Volleyball world tour. Nintendo’s recap additionally listed Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr as planned additions.
Pokémon Masters EX
Pokémon Masters EX marked its 6.5-year milestone alongside Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. The featured sync pairs announced were Red (1996) & Pikachu, Florian (Anniversary 2026) & Ogerpon, and Juliana (Anniversary 2026) & Terapagos. The celebration also included photo rewards and a 3,000-gem login gift.

Pokémon Sleep announced the start of Mew Research. Pokémon Café ReMix began a first-partner Pokémon celebration on February 28, initially featuring Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle with commemorative in-game brooches. Further Pokémon, chef outfits, and café decorations were also announced.

A Game Boy-style music player was the physical reveal
The Pokémon Red & Pokémon Blue Game Music Collection: Game Boy Jukebox is a Game Boy-like player that plays music and sound effects from the original games. It comes with 45 insertable cartridges; the Pokémon announcement pointed fans to Pokémon Center for its arrival. The recap did not establish its current price, stock, or availability by region.
PokémonXP and the 2026 World Championships head to San Francisco
The Pokémon Company International announced the 2026 Pokémon World Championships for San Francisco in August, with finals at Chase Center. The company expected more than 3,000 players to compete. The inaugural PokémonXP fan experience was set to run alongside the championships at Moscone Center, with interactive exhibits, pin trading, cosplay showcases, panels, hands-on workshops, a Pokémon Center store, and partner collaborations.
The announced competition categories were the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon GO, Pokémon UNITE, and Pokémon Champions for video games. The announcement described an interest-list window in April and single-day passes in early summer; those dates are past.
