What do reviews praise and criticize?
Lair construction and management
Reviewers often praise the balance between building and managing the lair and keeping an eye on the world map. The management loop gives players a range of systems to coordinate without making the game inaccessible. A recurring drawback is that players have less direct control over individual minions than some may want.
Tone and presentation
The comic spy-fi setting is one of the game’s clearest strengths in reviews. Its art direction, jokes, and villain fantasy help give the base-building a distinctive identity.

- Cruel Constructions! - Every villain needs an island lair, so pick your paradise and put your own sinister stamp on it!
- Atrocious Anti-Heroes! - Competence isn't going to cut it when you're running an evil operation. As you expand and train your minion workforce, you can create new specialists to help further your evil plans!

Missions and management friction
Some reviews find the non-story world-map missions repetitive or less engaging than running the lair. Other reservations concern balance and the friction of managing the game’s systems. Reception is not uniformly enthusiastic: the PC Metacritic page classifies 20 of its 59 reviews as mixed.

Is Evil Genius 2 worth playing?
It looks like a good fit if you enjoy building and managing a base, setting traps, and playing out a comic supervillain fantasy. If detailed hands-on control of every minion or consistently varied world-map objectives are priorities, the review themes suggest reading platform-specific reviews before deciding. That recommendation follows from the recurring praise and criticisms; it is not a claim based on firsthand gameplay testing.
