The terms and compensation details were not made public under a nondisclosure agreement, so no settlement amount or exact package can be reported.
What settlement did the workers accept?
The Game and Media Workers Guild of Canada, CWA Canada Local 30111, said its members accepted a settlement after a months-long dispute over Ubisoft’s decision to close its Halifax operation. The union described the vote as “overwhelming,” but did not publish a tally. CWA Canada’s April 23 statement and Global News’ April 16 report said the settlement specifics were confidential under a nondisclosure agreement.
That means the public record cited here does not establish the amount paid, the components of the package, or how individual workers’ outcomes differed. The union’s announcement confirms acceptance, not the terms.
How many workers were represented, and how many jobs were affected?
Global News reported two different figures: the union represented 61 workers, while Ubisoft’s closure affected 71 jobs. The numbers describe distinct groups; the available reporting does not establish that all 71 affected positions were in the bargaining unit.

Most of the 61 represented workers were supporting a mobile version of Assassin’s Creed, according to Global News.
What is publicly known about the closure timeline?
Global News reported that Ubisoft announced the Halifax closure in January 2026, three weeks after the union was certified to represent 61 workers. The outlet relayed Ubisoft’s stated rationale as cost optimization. The sequence establishes timing, but not that unionization caused the closure or that the decision was retaliation.

The union’s April 23 statement characterized the closure announcement as coming shortly after workers organized. Neither that statement nor the cited news reports provide a public finding establishing the cause of the closure.

Former Ubisoft Halifax employee Jon Huffman said in the union statement: “We are extremely grateful to our union for negotiating this package for us.” CWA-SCA Canada President Carmel Smyth credited members’ solidarity, resolve, information-sharing and advocacy for the negotiation’s success. Neither quotation discloses the package’s terms.
