There is no officially documented cheat code or verified current method for infinite inventory in Exanima. The official quickstart guide covers controls and tactical combat, not console commands. The guide’s own combat advice is deliberately conservative: “Be patient and be precise, this is a highly tactical combat system.” That principle is more reliable than an unverified exploit, especially in a game where a damaged save or corrupted item database can cost more progress than a temporary inventory advantage is worth.
Does the infinite-inventory glitch work?
The reported arena and hireling duplication issue
The commonly cited “Merchant Hireling Item Duplication Bug” comes from a 2017 Steam troubleshooting discussion. A player described a duplication problem associated with an arena and hirelings. The developer responded that the issue was difficult to reproduce and warned that exploiting duplication glitches could corrupt the item database. Once corrupted, the game could continue producing random item appearances and disappearances.
That warning changes the practical answer. The discussion demonstrates that players encountered a serious item-handling bug at that time; it does not establish a button sequence, save manipulation method, or current-build exploit. There was no evidence in the available material that the reported behavior remains reproducible in modern Exanima versions.

Why an old forum recipe is unsafe
A duplication procedure copied from an old post can fail in several ways. A later build may have changed the relevant arena, hireling, merchant, or save logic. A sequence that once produced an extra item may instead delete the original, create an invalid reference, or damage the database that records item identities. If the developer’s warning applies, repeatedly loading the affected save can spread unpredictable appearances and disappearances rather than create a controlled stockpile.
Do not test such a method on a valued campaign. If you are investigating a historical bug for troubleshooting purposes, preserve an untouched backup first, use a disposable save, and stop if items change unexpectedly. A backup can protect your campaign from a bad experiment; it cannot turn an unsupported exploit into a reliable feature.

What the “Inventory Limit?” discussion proves
Another older Steam discussion shows players asking about carrying capacity. The title “Inventory Limit?” is evidence that inventory space was a real player concern, but it does not prove a universal capacity number, an infinite-inventory option, a bypass, or present-day behavior. Community questions should not be converted into a rule that the game or its developers never documented.
Exanima’s legitimate late-game save and cheat-death systems
Bare Mettle’s update notes for Exanima 0.9.5.2 describe a limited late-game save system. After acquiring certain items, players gain access to a limited number of save points. The items can be used in different ways, and those choices trade permanent progress saving against other powerful effects, including an alternate cheat-death mechanic.

- These mechanics are part of the intended game design, not evidence of console cheats.
- Save-point access is limited, so spending an item has an opportunity cost.
- Choosing a powerful effect can mean giving up permanent progress saving or changing how you recover from death.
- Read each choice as a strategic commitment rather than a way to create unlimited resources.
Bare Mettle summarized the design by saying, “All choices are very powerful in their own way.” In practice, reserve these items for a decision you understand, rather than treating them as an inventory workaround.
Controls that make carrying less important
Move with the cursor and right mouse button
Holding the right mouse button moves your character toward the cursor. The distance between the character and cursor controls the pace: a nearby cursor produces walking, while a farther cursor produces running. This lets you choose careful footwork or a quick reposition without switching to a separate movement mode.

Movement keys can also move the character while leaving the cursor available for interaction. Use that arrangement when you need to keep your aim, inspect an object, or prepare an attack without constantly moving the pointer away from the target.
Keep movement deliberate in confined spaces
Running is not automatically safer. A long cursor distance can carry you into a doorway, obstacle, or opponent’s attack range before you are ready. Walk when lining up a doorway, circling an enemy, or trying to maintain a specific distance. Run when you have a clear route and need to create space.
How to win fights without relying on cheats
Wait for an opening
Exanima’s combat rewards timing and positioning rather than repeated attacks. Watch an opponent’s stance and movement, then strike when an opening appears. Position and turn your character so an incoming attack is intercepted or misses rather than meeting it at full force.
Do not attack into a committed block. The guide recommends patience and precision over wild swings. A blocked attack can leave you poorly positioned for the opponent’s counterattack, especially in a narrow room where there is no space to retreat.
Control direction, contact point, and force
An attack is not just a damage command. The direction of the swing, the point where the weapon contacts the target, and the force applied all affect the result. Keep the cursor and character orientation aligned with the hit you want, and avoid releasing a swing before it has enough room to develop.

Releasing an attack can interrupt it. That gives you a way to feint, shorten a committed motion, or return to a quick block when the opponent changes position. Use this deliberately; canceling every attack removes the force and reach that make a complete swing effective.
Use overhead attacks selectively
Overhead attacks can deliver substantial force, but they are easier for an opponent to avoid. They work best when the target is constrained, recovering, or moving into the line of the blow. Against a mobile enemy with room to maneuver, a slower or more predictable overhead can miss and leave you exposed.
How to compare weapons
Do not choose a weapon from one displayed number. The Quickstart Guide describes several interacting properties, and the player’s control and timing determine how those properties become an actual hit.

Use a weapon long enough to learn its reach and recovery before deciding that its damage is inadequate. If you repeatedly miss, strike too early, or cannot block after a canceled swing, the limiting factor may be handling rather than the weapon’s damage type.

How to compare armor and layering
Armor protects only the body areas it actually covers. A piece with strong protection on a small area can leave another vital area exposed, while broader coverage may prevent more damaging contacts even if the protection value is lower in one location.

The guide distinguishes protection against impact, slash, pierce, and crush. Match the protection profile to the attacks you expect rather than treating “more armor” as a universal answer. Layering can improve impact protection, but extra layers also affect what you can carry and how comfortably you can move through encounters.
- Check which body areas are covered before comparing protection values.
- Consider the incoming damage type: impact, slash, pierce, or crush.
- Use layers when the additional coverage or impact protection justifies the practical burden.
- Do not assume an uncovered area is protected because another part of the outfit is heavily armored.
A safe approach to inventory management
Carry for the next decision, not every possibility
When space is limited, prioritize equipment that solves the next known problem: a weapon you can control, armor that covers exposed areas, and supplies needed for the route you are actually taking. Carrying every marginal item increases sorting time and makes it harder to identify the tool you need under pressure.
Separate valuable experiments from your main save
If you want to test an unusual interaction, use a disposable character or a backup copy rather than a campaign containing irreplaceable progress. This is especially important for any behavior associated with merchants, hirelings, arenas, or duplicated items because the historical developer warning specifically concerned item-database corruption.
Use intended systems instead of exploit hunting
The late-game save choices give you a legitimate way to manage risk, but they are limited by design. Spend them when the permanent-save benefit, alternate effect, or cheat-death option addresses your current strategy. Treating them as unlimited inventory substitutes misunderstands their purpose and can leave you without the option you needed later.
What to do if items appear or disappear

If you have no backup, avoid building your campaign around items that are changing unexpectedly. The historical developer warning means that apparent gains may be followed by random losses, so an item count that briefly looks higher is not proof that the process succeeded.
