facesdk.dll Not Found: Trace the App and Restore Its Files

Confirm the result

After repair or reinstall, start the program from its normal shortcut. A successful repair means the original error no longer appears and the application reaches its normal login, menu, or main window.

If the same message returns immediately, check the installation directory. Right-click the application shortcut, choose Properties, select Open File Location, and look for facesdk.dll beside the application executable or in the vendor’s runtime folder. If the application is custom-built or internally maintained, ask its developer for the exact FaceSDK package matching the program. A newer Luxand SDK build is not automatically compatible with an older application.

If the application’s own documentation specifies another prerequisite, follow that documentation. Installing Visual C++ alone will not recreate facesdk.dll.

Fix 4: Check Windows Security Protection history

If the application worked until recently and the file has disappeared, Microsoft Defender or another security product may have quarantined it.

1. Open Start.

Fix 6: Install pending Windows updates

On Windows 11:

1. Open Settings.

Fix 7: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC

Use these commands when several Windows features or applications are failing, not as the first response to one missing third-party DLL.

1. Open Start.
2. Type Command Prompt.
3. Right-click Command Prompt.
4. Select Run as administrator.
5. Run:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Wait for it to finish. Then run:

sfc /scannow

Restart Windows when both commands complete.

DISM repairs the Windows component store. SFC checks protected Windows files. Neither normally restores a proprietary FaceSDK DLL, so return to repairing the parent application if the error remains.
