This Fallout 4 quest begins on the road north of Saugus Ironworks. Follow the Homing Beacon trail to the Glowing Sea and the Atlantic Offices to end the Enclave lockdown; three additional encampments are optional.
Where Echoes of the Past starts
Bethesda’s April 25, 2024 next-gen update notes place the quest on the road north of Saugus Ironworks. Investigate the missing caravan lead there, follow the blood trail to the Enclave retrieval encampment, and defeat the soldiers.

Follow the Homing Beacon to the Glowing Sea
- At the retrieval encampment, use the terminal and download the Homing Beacon Frequency.
- Travel to the Glowing Sea objective marker and tune the Pip-Boy radio to “Enclave Homing Beacon.” Head in the direction that increases the signal percentage. Southwest is a rough direction toward the Atlantic Offices, but follow the signal rather than relying on a fixed bearing.
Clear the Atlantic Offices and end the lockdown
- Defeat the Enclave soldiers outside the Atlantic Offices, then enter and clear the building.
- Find and defeat the Enclave Colonel in a storage room. Loot the Enclave Terminal Password from the Colonel.
- Use the password at the adjacent terminal and select “End the Lockdown.” This completes the main quest.
Before leaving, read the terminal entries for the Eastern, Western, and Southern Enclave Encampments to obtain their coordinates.
Optional Enclave encampments and rewards
The three additional encampments are not required to complete the main quest. At each one, clear the guards, activate the radio beacon, and collect the Enclave Entrenchment Manual. The manual unlocks vary by location:

What the update adds beyond this quest
Bethesda’s next-gen update notes list Enclave Remnants content, including X-02 and Hellfire Power Armor, the Heavy Incinerator, Tesla Cannon, equipment skins, and workshop content. That list covers update content; it does not establish that every item is a guaranteed reward for completing Echoes of the Past. Treat the quest’s terminal clues and the listed update equipment as related Enclave content, not as one combined reward bundle.
