How to choose and install Creations
There is no single best load order for every Xbox setup. Follow the instructions for the exact versions you install rather than applying a generic order copied from an older roundup.

- Open Fallout 4’s Creations menu and find the mod you want.
- Read its description for requirements, compatibility notes, and any stated load-order instructions. Confirm that the listing is for your game and platform.
- Choose a mod that serves a clear goal. Check the displayed download size against the storage available on your Xbox.
- Download a small number at a time, then use the in-game Load Order menu if the mod’s instructions or Bethesda’s guidance call for changes.
- Test your game before adding more. Bethesda’s troubleshooting guidance warns that downloading more than 10 new mods at once can be risky when console loading problems occur.
Bethesda says user experience may vary when playing with Creations. Mod examples in roundups and project documentation are not guarantees of current availability, compatibility, or performance.
Xbox storage and mod limits
Bethesda’s May 27, 2026 Fallout 4 Creation Storage Expansion Update gives different storage figures by Xbox generation. Storage capacity is not the same thing as an active-mod limit or an archive-count limit.

Bethesda’s August 18, 2026 patch notes raised the BA2 archive limit from 256 to 1024. That is an archive-count change, not a storage-size figure or a statement of how many mods can be active. An older Bethesda Support page gives a 150 active-mod figure for Xbox One but says the cap may be adjusted; it does not establish a current limit for every Xbox model.
Bethesda also said the May 2026 update cleared installed Creations on first launch after the update. Its guidance describes restoring a saved load order through the Creations menu or loading a save made since the Anniversary Edition launch on November 10, 2025, to re-download content.

Fixing mod-related loading problems
If a modded save will not load, start with Bethesda’s less destructive troubleshooting suggestions. Clearing Reserved Space is not a routine first step: it removes local mod data and can require you to download Creations again.
- Power-cycle the Xbox and try loading again.
- Disable mods and try the save again. If it still fails, try an earlier or unmodded save.
- If Fallout 4 is stuck at startup after activating many mods, consult Bethesda’s support instructions for clearing the game’s Reserved Space through Xbox Manage Game.
- Before clearing Reserved Space, protect your actual save file. Bethesda explicitly warns not to delete the save itself.

Where should I put a mod in the load order?
Check the Creation’s own description and use Fallout 4’s Load Order menu as needed. Requirements and ordering depend on the specific mod and version, so a generic fixed order may not fit your setup.
What should I do if a modded save will not load?
Try power-cycling, disabling mods, and loading an earlier or unmodded save. For serious startup problems, follow Bethesda’s Reserved Space instructions carefully and do not delete your actual save file.
