It is available on consoles, PC, and mobile, but co-op modes, edition choices, and physical-copy availability vary by platform and region. This guide explains how the game is structured and what to check before choosing where to play.
What kind of game is Fantasy Life i?
LEVEL5 describes Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time as a social slow-life RPG set on a deserted island in Reveria. The story begins when the player and archaeologist Edward follow a light from a dragon fossil to an uncharted island. A Dark Dragon attacks; the fossil awakens as a Bone Dragon, and the player follows it through a mysterious gate to a lively place. The broader journey spans 1,000 years as the player restores the island and investigates its mystery. LEVEL5’s official game description
The game combines exploration and combat with activities such as gathering materials, crafting weapons and other items, shaping the island, decorating a home, and exploring dungeons. A useful way to think about its structure is as a cycle: explore, collect materials, use the relevant Life to craft or gather more effectively, then apply what you make to progression, combat, or customization. That is a summary of the activities LEVEL5 describes, not a claim about a required or optimal order.
How do the 14 Lives work?
Lives are the game’s job-like vocations. LEVEL5 groups the 14 Lives into combat, gathering, and crafting roles, and says players can switch between them using Quick Life Change. The categories connect naturally: gathering Lives collect resources, crafting Lives turn materials into useful goods, and combat Lives support exploration and battles. The game does not require a single prescribed Life order in the official information cited here.

Which platform is the game on?
LEVEL5 lists Fantasy Life i for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, iOS, and Android. The original console and PC release was May 21, 2025; the Switch 2 edition followed on June 5, 2025; and the mobile version launched August 20, 2026. Check the relevant store for current availability in your region. LEVEL5 platform and product information
For a straightforward choice, start with the device you already own and how you want to play: handheld, on a console, or on PC. Then check whether you need local co-op, online multiplayer, touch controls, or cross-save access to Deluxe bonuses. Those differences matter more than assuming every platform has the same feature set.

Cross-save does not make Deluxe bonuses portable by themselves. According to LEVEL5’s FAQ, if you move a save to another platform, that destination platform must also have the Deluxe edition or its paid upgrade to use those bonuses. The FAQ also says the game supports one save file, and creating a new save overwrites the previous data. LEVEL5 FAQ
How does multiplayer and co-op work?
LEVEL5 says two to four players can play together. Online play is available across platforms. Local play is available on Switch 2 and Switch. Console online multiplayer requires the applicable paid platform subscription; mobile online play does not. LEVEL5 recommends Wi-Fi for mobile online play. Check your platform’s current subscription requirements before buying if online co-op is a deciding factor. LEVEL5 multiplayer FAQ

Two-player Family Co-op on one device
Family Co-op lets two players play on one device with two controllers. On Switch 2 and Switch, each player needs two Joy-Con controllers (one pair), so two-player Family Co-op requires two pairs in total. Family Co-op cannot be used during online or local multiplayer, and it is not supported on iOS or Android. On Steam, LEVEL5 says players can connect two controllers or use Steam Remote Play Together; the invited Trip player needs a controller.
Choosing between local and online play
- If you want two people on one device, confirm Family Co-op support and the required controllers for your platform.
- If you want to play online on a console, account for that platform’s paid online subscription.
- If you are choosing mobile for online play, a paid platform subscription is not required, but mobile does not include Family Co-op or local wireless.
What is different about the mobile version?
The mobile version launched August 20, 2026, and LEVEL5 says it includes DLC released through August 19, 2026. It uses full touch controls and is listed as Deluxe-only; the Standard Edition and Edition Upgrade are unavailable on mobile. Its minimum operating-system requirements are iOS 16 or later and Android 10 or later. Mobile does not support 2 Player Family Co-op or local wireless, although online play does not require a paid platform subscription. LEVEL5 mobile page LEVEL5 FAQ

Is there a physical (retail) version of the game?
LEVEL5’s FAQ says physical retail editions are available in Japan only, for Switch 2, Switch, and PS5. In other regions, the game is digital-download only. This does not establish that a particular imported listing is compatible with your console, includes your preferred language, or is sold by a reliable seller. Before buying an imported Japanese physical edition, verify the platform, region and language details, seller, and shipping terms on that listing. LEVEL5 FAQ
