Epic Games Store named Fear the Spotlight as its next PC giveaway in an announcement reported on October 16, 2025. The claim window ran from October 23 through October 30, 2025, and has expired; the game is not established as a current free offer. Notebookcheck reported the announcement and dates.
What was Epic Games Store’s next free game?
The announced giveaway was Fear the Spotlight, a third-person horror adventure developed by Cozy Game Pals and published by Blumhouse Games. The game originally released on October 22, 2024, according to its Steam listing.

Epic’s announcement was a Halloween-season promotion, not a current offer. Epic’s free-games page describes a weekly giveaway cadence, with new free games every Thursday on PC and mobile. Check that live page for whatever is currently available; it does not verify the expired Fear the Spotlight window.
When could players claim Fear the Spotlight?
The reported claim period was October 23–30, 2025. That period has passed, so this announcement does not indicate that players can still add the game to an Epic account for free.

What kind of horror game is it?
Vivian and Amy sneak into their school after hours to hold a séance. When it goes wrong, Vivian is left alone and must avoid a monster, search for Amy, solve puzzles, and uncover the school’s unsettling history. Steam describes it as an atmospheric third-person adventure and says it is suitable for people new to horror games.
Notebookcheck characterized the horror as relatively light and non-confrontational, highlighting puzzle solving and a CRT-style visual filter. That is a publication’s characterization, not a guarantee that every player will find the game mild.

Steam lists support for Windows, macOS, and SteamOS + Linux, alongside single-player play and Steam Cloud. Notebookcheck reported controller support, but does not establish that a controller is required or identify one model as necessary. Check the store listing for system requirements and platform details before buying or installing.
