Updated October 9, 2026: A January 2026 report said a leaker known as BeeFuN claimed Nintendo would hold a first-party Direct on February 10. That was a rumor, not a Nintendo announcement. Nintendo instead announced a Partner Showcase for February 5, 2026, focused on third-party games; it was a separate event.
What did the February 2026 leak claim?
In a January 11, 2026 report, ComicBook.com attributed the claim of a “huge” February 10 Nintendo Direct to the account BeeFuN. The report also mentioned a possible new 3D Mario reveal, but that was speculation attached to the rumor—not confirmed event content. ComicBook.com noted that “Nothing here is official information.” Read the report.
The same report said Nate the Hate did not confirm the claim. Nintendo had not commented on it when the story was published, so the February 10 date and any rumored game announcements should not be treated as verified.
What event did Nintendo announce for February?
GameSpot reported that Nintendo announced a Partner Showcase for February 5, 2026, at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET. The presentation was expected to run about 30 minutes and focus on third-party games for Switch and Switch 2. That announced showcase was not the rumored February 10 first-party Direct. Why the headline can be confused with older rumors
“A Nintendo Direct in February” has appeared in reporting across multiple years, so a headline without a year does not identify one specific leak.
- 2025: A February 12 story reported that Jeff Grubb expected a smaller Nintendo Switch Direct later that month. Grubb reportedly said he had checked with a reliable source and asked twice to verify; the story also said Nintendo had not confirmed an event. Read the 2025 report.
- 2024: Gameranx reported Grubb’s expectation of a February Direct. In that 2024 context, he said: “It is the one I heard that was coming up the fastest but you can always count on a Nintendo Direct in February. It is almost certainly going to happen in February, again.” This was his expectation as quoted by Gameranx, not a Nintendo announcement. Read the 2024 report.
Are the February 2026 events still upcoming?
No. Both February 2026 dates are now historical. The available reporting establishes that Nintendo announced a February 5 Partner Showcase and that a separate February 10 first-party Direct was claimed in a leak; it does not establish that Nintendo held the rumored Direct. The headline’s “coming very soon” phrasing should therefore not be read as current event news.
