FIFA 18 has no single authoritative top 100 Career Mode wonderkid ranking. This retrospective guide uses the game’s young-player database listings to explain the leading names and how to interpret their ratings—not to claim an official, definitive order.
What “wonderkid” means in FIFA 18
The label depends on the database. FIFA Index describes its pool as Career Mode players aged 16–21 with high potential and growth, while FUTWIZ labels its list as the highest-potential players under 21. Those definitions overlap, but they are not identical, so the databases can include different players and produce different rankings.

The figures below are FIFA 18 Career Mode database ratings. Potential is an in-game ceiling, not a forecast of a footballer’s real career. This is a guide to FIFA 18, not a current EA Sports FC recommendation.
Leading FIFA 18 wonderkids in the databases
FUTWIZ’s visible leading entries give a useful snapshot of highly rated young players. The table preserves its displayed overall and potential values; it is not a newly calculated or official top-100 order.

| Player | Overall | Potential | Source-list context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kylian Mbappé | 84 | 94 | FUTWIZ visible leading entry; FourFourTwo also reported 94 potential in 2017. |
| Ousmane Dembélé | 83 | 92 | FUTWIZ visible leading entry; FourFourTwo also reported 92 potential in 2017. |
| Gabriel Jesus | 83 | 92 | FUTWIZ visible leading entry; FourFourTwo also reported 92 potential in 2017. |
| Leon Bailey | 82 | 89 | FUTWIZ visible leading entry. |
| Malcom | 82 | 90 | FUTWIZ visible leading entry. |
| Gianluigi Donnarumma | 82 | 93 | FUTWIZ visible leading entry; FourFourTwo reported 94 potential in 2017. |
FIFA Index’s displayed ranking starts with Mbappé, Ellie Carpenter, Donnarumma, Jesus, Dembélé, Matthijs de Ligt and Marcus Rashford. Carpenter’s appearance illustrates why the ranking depends on the database’s pool as well as its ordering; do not treat a player’s omission from one list as proof they are absent from FIFA 18 Career Mode.
Players FourFourTwo identified at 90 potential or higher
In a guide published on 17 October 2017, FourFourTwo selected 13 players it said began Career Mode with potential of 90 or higher at the time of writing. It specifically identified Mbappé and Donnarumma at 94, Dembélé and Jesus at 92, and Leroy Sané and Thomas Lemar at 91.

This is a dated 2017 selection, not a complete top-100 table. The available database views use different scopes and displayed orders, so the evidence does not support presenting these sources as one definitive ranked list of 100.

Compare the ratings that answer different questions
- Potential: the database ceiling. A higher value signals more room to grow within the game’s rating system, not guaranteed development.
- Starting overall: a quick indication of how ready the player is to contribute to your current squad.
- Age and growth: age provides context for the development window; the gap between overall and potential indicates how far the player could rise if they reach that ceiling.
- Position: a high rating is most useful when it fills a role your team needs.
FUTWIZ also displays position, age, growth, contract, skill moves, weak foot and total stats. FIFA Index’s displayed rows include position, nation, age, overall, potential and growth. Check the relevant database entry for those additional fields before deciding a player fits your plans.

- FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team: The most popular mode in FIFA 18, Ultimate Team, now with a fresh FIFA World Cup experience. Thanks to a revised chemistry system, FIFA World Cup ICONS, and dynamic player items related to the real-world tournament, FIFA World Cup Ultimate team lets you build your dream international squad.
- 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia : Choose one of 32 qualified nations and play through the authentic tournament structure, from the group stage to the final in Moscow.
- FIFA World Cup Kick-Off: Jump into an offline match solo or with friends using official teams, players, kits, presentation elements, and authentic stadium atmospheres from the FIFA World Cup.
- Custom FIFA World Cup Tournament: Select any licensed national team in FIFA 18, from the USA to Italy, and bring your FIFA World Cup dreams to life by creating your own tournament draw.
Balance ceiling against squad fit and budget
As a practical selection approach, prioritize the position and role you need, then weigh the player’s current overall against their potential and development gap. A player with a large gap may be a longer-term project; one with a stronger starting overall may help sooner. Consider what your club can afford and whether the player fits your system. These are squad-building considerations, not claims about specific transfer fees or guaranteed outcomes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why there is no universal FIFA 18 top 100
FUTWIZ’s data is paginated, FIFA Index displays a different pool and ranking, and EA’s “Top 100” page refers to top-rated players—not Career Mode wonderkids. Those lists answer different questions. A number-one-to-100 ranking would therefore require choosing and consistently applying one database’s inclusion rules and data; the cited material does not establish a single official order.

- Any customer with a FIFA 18 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC or Nintendo Switch can download the update free of charge
- All previous game updates and internet connection are required

Use database ratings as a comparison tool, and check age boundaries and list scope when comparing one published ranking with another. In particular, “under 21” and “aged 16–21” should not be silently treated as interchangeable.
