Build around that spine, develop the younger players, and save alternative formations for opponents or play styles that call for them.
How strong are Tottenham in FIFA 19?
FIFA Index’s FIFA 19 squad database rates Tottenham 83 overall, with 86 attack, 82 midfield and 83 defense. Its standout group makes the team ready to compete without an immediate overhaul: Kane is rated 90, while Hugo Lloris and Eriksen are 88, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are 87, Son is 87 and Alli is 85. These are FIFA 19 database ratings, not real-world assessments, and may depend on the roster snapshot.

Which formation should you use?
Start with 4-2-3-1 wide
RealSport101’s FIFA 19 guide recommends the 4-2-3-1 wide as Tottenham’s starting formation. Its suggested XI is Lloris in goal; Kieran Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Ben Davies across the back; Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele in the two defensive-midfield positions; Eriksen and Alli in the central creative roles; Son on the left; and Kane at striker.

The shape balances the team’s best-known attacking players with two midfielders screening the defense. In the guide’s suggested instructions, keep both defensive midfielders back while attacking, allow Eriksen and Alli to roam, and tell Son to run in behind. Overlapping fullbacks can add width, while Eriksen and Alli help move the ball into positions where Kane can attack chances.
The same guide cites FIFA 19 attributes that support those roles: Eriksen has 91 short passing and 91 vision; Kane has 94 finishing and 93 positioning; Son has 88 acceleration. When to try another shape
RealSport101 also lists 4-3-3, 4-1-2-1-2 and 3-5-2 as alternatives. They change the balance between midfield cover, central combinations and width; no one alternative is established as universally better. Before switching, consider whether the shape preserves protection in front of the center-backs, gives Eriksen and Alli room between the lines, creates space for Son to run into, and relies on fullbacks or wingbacks to provide width.

Save alternatives rather than rebuilding your setup each match. EA’s FIFA 19 manual explains that Team Management lets you configure formations, roles and tactics and save multiple Team Sheets: FIFA 19 PC manual. Test a different shape in pre-season or when your opponent’s setup gives you a reason to change.
Who should you develop?
Tottenham’s established stars give you a strong starting XI; development can prepare younger players for rotation and future roles. FIFA Index lists these potentials in its FIFA 19 database:

Those suggestions and the database’s potential values are version-dependent indicators, not promises of a fixed Career Mode outcome.

Should you sign or sell anyone?
RealSport101 reports an opening transfer budget of £80 million and a weekly wage budget of £259,000 for its FIFA 19 Career Mode guide. Treat both as historical guide figures: check the values displayed in your own save, since roster updates and save settings may differ.
Prioritize needs rather than a shopping list
The guide identifies defensive midfield and backup striker as areas worth considering. It names Blaise Matuidi for defensive midfield and Santi Mina as a reserve striker, with Joshua Kimmich, Marco Verratti, Maximiliano Gomez and Arkadiusz Milik among other suggestions. These are period-specific targets, not guaranteed fits: player availability, negotiations, ratings, wages and fees can vary in your save. Decide whether a signing improves your preferred system and can earn a useful role before committing budget.

The guide also proposes selling or loaning fringe players, but that is an editorial judgment rather than a requirement. Check each player’s role, contract and position-specific cover before agreeing to a deal. A reserve who seems surplus in the starting formation may still matter when injuries, rotation or a tactical change affect your available squad.

What game version does this guide cover?
This advice is for FIFA 19, the 2018 edition, not later EA SPORTS FC games or a current Tottenham roster. Electronic Arts’ product sheet gives the street date as September 28, 2018 and lists PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It also identifies EA Vancouver and EA Romania as developers and Electronic Arts Inc. as publisher: EA FIFA 19 product sheet.
EA’s manual documents Career Mode and Team Management, including squad setup, player roles, tactics and multiple Team Sheets. It says the game autosaves progress and most recent settings; do not turn off your PC while the autosave icon is showing. The manual does not establish current retail availability, prices or update delivery.
