Does Final Fantasy IX have multiplayer?
The Square Enix support and manual material reviewed for this FAQ describes the game as a story-led experience but does not document a multiplayer mode. That is not the same as a definitive publisher statement covering every edition or feature ever released. Square Enix does confirm that the main storyline can be played without an internet connection, so an internet connection is not required for that part of the game.
What are Final Fantasy IX’s save options?
Manual slots and auto-saves
Square Enix support says players can create up to 10 manual save slots, while auto-saves use a separate slot. If all manual slots are occupied, you must overwrite an existing save; the support guidance says save slots cannot be deleted.

Saving in the PC manual
The PC manual describes saving at certain moogles on field maps. On the world map, you can call a moogle to save at any time. Moving between areas triggers an auto-save, and Continue resumes from the location of the most recent auto-save. These directions are specific to the manual’s edition; do not assume every platform uses the same interface or procedure.
PS4 auto-save
Square Enix lists auto-save functionality as a PS4 enhancement. Its PS4 feature information also notes optional boosters. The available material does not establish that save behavior or optional settings are identical across every platform.
Can you transfer Final Fantasy IX saves between platforms or devices?
Between different platforms
Square Enix says there is no cross-save functionality across different platforms. Its Cloud Sync guidance limits mobile transfers to Android-to-Android or iPhone-to-iPhone, and says saves are incompatible between Android and iOS and with other platforms.
Between Android devices
For Google Play, Square Enix says a save is stored within the app unless uploaded to Cloud Save. Use CLOUD DATA on the title screen to upload a save from the old device and download it on the new one.

Between iPhones
Square Enix directs iOS players to use iCloud from the start screen and the same Apple ID on the destination device. Upload or otherwise back up your save before uninstalling the game or changing devices; the support guidance does not describe a way to recover a save that was never backed up.
