What patch is Final Fantasy XIV on?
The latest major all-world update identified in the official notices is Patch 7.57. The October 12 maintenance announcement says the work would implement Patch 7.57 together with the advance implementation of same-region player matching on the Japan data center.
“Latest major all-world update” is deliberately narrower than a claim that no smaller hotfix, known-issue correction, or regional service work happened afterward. The Lodestone index can list several notices close together, so check the date and scope of the newest notice when you need the live position rather than relying on a search-result title or an old social-media post.

Square Enix’s wording for the maintenance was: “In order to implement Patch 7.57 along with the advance implementation of same-region player matching on the Japan data centre, maintenance will take place on all Worlds at the time below, during which FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable.” That means the announced outage applied to every World during the stated window, not only to players on the Japan data center.
How long was the Patch 7.57 maintenance?
Scheduled window in GMT
The original window began at 10:00 GMT on October 12, 2026 and ended at 10:00 GMT on October 13, 2026. In GMT terms, that is 24 hours. The notice also warns, “Completion time is subject to change,” so the end of the advertised window was a target, not a promise that login would be available at that exact minute.
Later completion estimate
A follow-up revised the expected end to approximately 2:25 a.m. PDT on October 13, 2026. PDT is UTC−7, so that estimate corresponds to approximately 09:25 GMT. It is about 35 minutes earlier than the original 10:00 GMT endpoint, but it remains an estimate; treat the Lodestone’s completion announcement as the confirmation that services are actually available.

If your region uses a different daylight-saving rule, convert from GMT or PDT rather than copying a neighboring region’s clock time.
How big is the FFXIV update?
There is no verified gigabyte number to quote for Patch 7.57. The official maintenance and status notices reviewed for this update do not publish a download-size figure, and a single number found on a forum or social post cannot be treated as a universal requirement.
The launcher is the authoritative source for the amount your installation must download. The figure can differ because of:
- your platform and its launcher or client format;
- the version currently installed;
- files already present from earlier updates; and
- the files that need to be replaced or added on that particular installation.
How to check your own requirement
- Open the official FINAL FANTASY XIV launcher for the platform you use.
- Sign in if the launcher requests your account credentials.
- Allow the updater to check the installed client. Read the download amount displayed by the launcher before starting the update.
- Keep the launcher open until the update finishes and it reports that the client is ready to play.
Because that value is generated for your installation, it is more useful than an alleged universal Patch 7.57 size. If the launcher shows no update while a maintenance notice is still active, that does not indicate that maintenance has ended: downloading and logging in are separate from the game-world service being available.

Is FFXIV down right now?
A dated maintenance notice cannot prove the live status several days later. The official place to check is the FINAL FANTASY XIV Lodestone news and status stream. Its current index lists Patch 7.57 notices, a known issue following release, and Japan data-center cross-world-function maintenance notices. Read the newest dated entry and its stated scope.
The reviewed official pages do not provide a single numeric uptime percentage or a universal green/red light. “Down” can mean an all-World maintenance, a data-center service interruption, a single World problem, or a login issue affecting only one player. The notice’s scope is therefore as important as its headline.

When sources disagree, give priority to the newest official notice for the relevant scope. A player who can log in on one World does not disprove a data-center service notice, and a launcher download that completes does not prove that the login servers have reopened.

How to read a maintenance or outage notice
1. Check the timestamp
Start with the publication or update time, then convert it to your local zone. An old notice can remain highly visible even after a newer follow-up changes the expected completion.

2. Check the scope
Look for phrases such as “all Worlds,” a named data center, a specific World, or a particular cross-world function. Patch 7.57’s scheduled outage was all-World maintenance, while the related Japan data-center notices concern a narrower function.
3. Distinguish an estimate from confirmation
“Approximately 2:25 a.m. PDT” is an expected completion time. A later notice saying maintenance is complete is the confirmation that matters for play. Square Enix explicitly cautioned that completion times could change.
4. Look for known issues
A known-issue notice after release can explain abnormal behavior even when the Worlds are technically online. Read its affected feature, platform, or region before treating one error message as proof of a full outage.

What changed for Japan data-center players?
Patch 7.57 advanced same-region player matching on the Japan data center. Square Enix explained that matchmaking and party recruitment would extend to all players on the same physical data center, regardless of the World they were currently using.

This is a matching and recruitment change, not a statement that every region received the same feature at the same time. The announcement said rollout to other data centers would follow after stability was confirmed. Players outside Japan should therefore avoid assuming that the Japan behavior automatically applies to their data center.
The practical distinction is between a player’s current World and the physical data center containing multiple Worlds. Under the described Japan rollout, the matching pool can include players across those Worlds while remaining within the same physical data center. Later notices are the appropriate source for expansion or changes to that rollout.
Troubleshooting when your result conflicts with the status page
The Lodestone says maintenance, but the launcher is downloading
That is consistent with the launcher preparing files while the game service remains unavailable. Let the download finish, then wait for an official completion notice before assuming login should work.

- Refresh the Lodestone page and check for a newer follow-up or known-issue notice.
- Confirm that the notice covers your World, data center, and service; a regional or function-specific issue may remain.
- Check whether the launcher has finished applying the update rather than merely downloading it.
- Record the exact error and time. A single-account or platform problem is different from an all-World outage.
Your download size differs from another player’s
That difference is expected when installations have different prior files, versions, or platforms. Use the amount shown by your own launcher; no official universal Patch 7.57 gigabyte figure is available.
A community status post conflicts with an official notice
Use the community post as an observation, not a final ruling. Compare its timestamp and scope with the newest Lodestone entry. One player’s successful login can coexist with a service problem affecting another World or function.
