For a durable front-line unit who can support the team, keep Goldmary in Hero or develop her along that route. Her reported HP and Defense growths make durability a natural strength, but her more modest Strength and Speed growths do not make her an effortless offensive carry. General is a defensive alternative; Warrior is worth comparing if you want a different physical role. There is no established universally best build for every difficulty, team, or level of investment.
Why build Goldmary around durability?
FE Engage Lab reports Goldmary’s personal growth rates as 65% HP, 55% Defense, 30% Strength, and 25% Speed. Those figures point toward a sturdy frontliner rather than a unit whose main selling point is fast, high-damage offense. Growth rates describe the chance of gaining a stat when leveling; they do not guarantee a particular result in an individual playthrough.

The same guide lists her base stats as HP 40, Strength 17, Magic 2, Dexterity 18, Speed 20, Defense 20, Resistance 12, Luck 13, Build 9, and Movement 5. What is the best class for Goldmary?
There is no proven single winner. For a useful default, think of Goldmary as a durable Hero and choose a different class only when the team needs a specific weapon option, more physical defense, or a different offensive role.

Hero: balanced frontliner and support attacker
Goldmary’s reported starting class is Hero. Staying with or returning to Hero is a practical choice when you want a front-line unit who can contribute through the class’s support-oriented role as well as personal attacks. Prima Games’ indexed result discusses Hero’s Brave Assist class skill, but the available information does not establish that this makes Hero the strongest choice in every mode.
General: prioritize a defensive wall
General is a reasonable route to consider when your priority is physical durability and holding the front line. Neoseeker’s indexed guide discusses General for Goldmary, but its accessible information does not support a more detailed claim about specific performance or an optimal setup.
Warrior: compare for a physical alternative
FE Engage Lab ranks Warrior first in its own class ranking and lists Bow Knight and Wolf Knight close behind. Treat that as one guide’s recommendation, not an objective result: the ranking is not a controlled comparison proving that Warrior performs best for every team or difficulty.

How to choose between the class routes
Choose around what your roster needs rather than chasing a universal tier list. Goldmary’s class affects her growth and weapon access, while her character growths also contribute to how she develops. Nintendo’s official Fire Emblem Engage training-system page explains that character and class both affect growth, and that reclassing changes a unit’s class while preserving previously gained stats and inherited skills.

- Need a unit focused more narrowly on physical defense? Compare General.

- Making the choice for a particular difficulty or team? Account for the rest of your roster, available Emblem rings, inherited skills, and how much investment you plan to give Goldmary.
What should Goldmary inherit?
There is not enough verified information here to prescribe an exact skill package, cost, or mandatory inheritance. FE Engage Lab suggests options such as Canter and weapon-power skills; treat these as possibilities from that guide, not essential picks. Their usefulness depends on the role you choose and what other units need.
Skill inheritance has opportunity costs. Nintendo’s system guide explains that units inherit Emblem skills after building bond and spending SP, and that each unit has a limited number of inherited-skill slots. Before committing, check that Goldmary has the required bond progression and SP and that the skill deserves one of her available slots.

Is Goldmary good in Maddening Mode?
The available sources do not provide controlled win-rate, damage, or other performance benchmarks for Goldmary in Maddening Mode. Her reported durability-focused growth profile can support a front-line role, but it does not establish how well a particular build performs under Maddening’s demands. Make the choice based on your team’s needs and investment rather than treating a class ranking as proof of difficulty-specific performance.
What the build advice can—and cannot—establish
Nintendo’s official mechanics page is useful for understanding how growth, reclassing, and skill inheritance work. Goldmary-specific growth figures and class rankings come from a community-maintained guide, while the General and Hero comparisons rely on limited indexed guide information. None of these sources establishes a universally optimal build through controlled testing. The recommendations above are therefore role-based: they help you choose what to try, not guarantee a result.
