Yes. In current Desktop, Console, and Mobile versions of Terraria, the Fire Gauntlet works alongside different emblem types, including the Avenger Emblem. You receive the Fire Gauntlet’s melee bonuses and the equipped emblems’ bonuses at the same time. The important limits are that different emblem types are the ones that stack, duplicate Avenger Emblems cannot be equipped together, and glove-accessory increases to weapon size and knockback do not stack with one another.
The short answer
The Fire Gauntlet is not an emblem, so equipping it does not replace or cancel an emblem. The current Avenger Emblem rules explicitly allow different emblem types to stack with one another and with the Fire Gauntlet or Mechanical Glove. That means a loadout containing the Fire Gauntlet and an Avenger Emblem gets both items’ applicable effects.

This answer applies to the current Desktop, Console, and Mobile versions described by the Official Terraria Wiki. Older console and 3DS releases use different Fire Gauntlet effects, so an older-version guide can produce a different answer about what the item does.
What the Fire Gauntlet actually adds
The Fire Gauntlet is a Hardmode accessory. On current versions, its listed effects are separate from the emblem system, which is why the two categories can be combined.

- 12% melee damage: This is the Fire Gauntlet’s current listed melee-damage bonus.
- 12% melee speed: It also increases melee speed by 12%.
- Autoswing for melee weapons and whips: Eligible attacks can repeat without requiring a separate click for every swing.
- Doubled melee knockback: Melee hits receive the Fire Gauntlet’s knockback increase.
- 10% size increase for eligible melee weapons: Weapons covered by the item’s size effect become larger for reach and hitbox purposes.
- Hellfire on melee hits: Successful melee hits can inflict the Hellfire debuff.
These are item modifiers, not a promise of a fixed percentage increase to every weapon’s final damage output. A weapon’s base damage, other equipped accessories, armor, buffs, critical-hit effects, and target defenses can all affect the number you see in play. The stacking question is simply whether the Fire Gauntlet remains active when an emblem is equipped; it does.
How emblem stacking works
Different emblem types stack
The emblem rule is based on type. The Avenger Emblem entry states that multiple emblems of different types stack with one another and that they also stack with the Fire Gauntlet or Mechanical Glove. Therefore, adding a Fire Gauntlet does not consume an emblem slot in the sense of replacing the emblem’s modifier, and the two categories can be active in the same accessory loadout.
“Different types” matters. The rule does not mean that you can fill every accessory slot with copies of the same emblem and multiply one emblem effect indefinitely. The documented restriction specifically says that multiple Avenger Emblems cannot be worn at once. Do not treat the Fire Gauntlet’s compatibility as permission to equip duplicate Avenger Emblems.
What the Avenger Emblem example proves
The Avenger Emblem is the clearest example because its item documentation names the interaction directly. If you equip an Avenger Emblem and a Fire Gauntlet, the Avenger Emblem’s bonus and the Fire Gauntlet’s listed effects are both available. The Fire Gauntlet is an accessory with its own melee and glove effects, not a second Avenger Emblem that would trigger the duplicate restriction.

Do not confuse stacking with identical copies
When players say “stack,” they may mean two different things: combining effects from separate item categories, or equipping repeated copies of one item. The first is allowed here: a Fire Gauntlet and an emblem can coexist. The second is restricted for Avenger Emblems: multiple Avenger Emblems cannot be equipped simultaneously. Keeping those meanings separate resolves most contradictory answers.
Fire Gauntlet and other glove accessories
The Fire Gauntlet belongs to the glove-accessory family. Its source states that glove accessory stats stack with each other except for the size and knockback increases. This is a separate rule from emblem stacking, but it matters when building a melee loadout.
Recommended Free Tools
| Effect category | Interaction between glove accessories | Practical reading |
|---|---|---|
| Melee damage | Stacks according to the glove-accessory rule. | Each applicable damage modifier remains part of the loadout. |
| Melee speed | Stacks according to the glove-accessory rule. | Bonuses from applicable glove accessories are not canceled merely because the Fire Gauntlet is present. |
| Weapon size | Does not stack with another glove accessory’s size increase. | Do not expect successive size bonuses to keep enlarging the weapon. |
| Knockback | Does not stack with another glove accessory’s knockback increase. | The knockback increase is not multiplied by equipping another glove source. |
The exception concerns the size and knockback increases; it does not turn off the Fire Gauntlet’s other listed effects. Autoswing, Hellfire, melee damage, and melee speed should be considered as the Fire Gauntlet’s own effects, while the documented non-stacking exception prevents duplicate size or knockback increases from piling up.
Useful loadout decisions
Fire Gauntlet plus Avenger Emblem
This is a valid combination on current versions. The Fire Gauntlet supplies its melee damage and speed bonuses, autoswing, doubled melee knockback, eligible weapon-size increase, and Hellfire effect. The Avenger Emblem remains active as a separate emblem modifier. There is no rule requiring you to choose one or the other.
Rank #3
Fire Gauntlet plus distinct emblem types
The same compatibility applies when the emblems are different types. The emblem documentation describes different emblem types as stackable with one another and with the Fire Gauntlet or Mechanical Glove. Use separate accessory slots for the items you want; the Fire Gauntlet does not invalidate a distinct emblem.
Trying to equip two Avenger Emblems
This is the combination to avoid. The Avenger Emblem entry specifically says that multiple Avenger Emblems cannot be worn at once. If an accessory setup appears to be missing an expected second Avenger effect, the restriction—not a conflict with the Fire Gauntlet—is the explanation.
Adding another glove accessory
Another glove accessory can contribute compatible glove statistics, but it will not create a second independent weapon-size increase or a second cumulative knockback increase. Decide whether the additional accessory’s other effects justify the slot rather than assuming every Fire Gauntlet property will be numerically doubled.

Platform and generation are essential when checking an old guide, video, or forum answer. The current Fire Gauntlet entry covers Desktop, Console, and Mobile. A separate legacy entry records different behavior for Old-gen console and Nintendo 3DS versions.

| Fire Gauntlet property | Current Desktop, Console, and Mobile | Old-gen console and 3DS |
|---|---|---|
| Melee damage | 12% | 9% |
| Melee speed | 12% | 9% |
| Autoswing | Granted for melee weapons and whips | Not granted |
| Eligible melee weapon size | Increased by 10% | Not increased |
| Knockback | Doubled melee knockback | Not stated in the cited legacy summary |
| On-hit debuff | Hellfire | On Fire! |
The legacy differences do not overturn the current answer about combining a Fire Gauntlet with different emblems, but they do change what you should expect from the Fire Gauntlet itself. A player on an Old-gen console or 3DS should not use the current 12%, autoswing, 10%-size, or Hellfire descriptions as though they were universal.
Why a setup may appear not to stack
If the expected combination seems ineffective, check the conditions before concluding that the accessories conflict.
- Identify the platform and generation. Confirm whether the game is a current Desktop, Console, or Mobile release, or an Old-gen console/3DS version. The legacy item has different listed properties.
- Check the exact emblem names. Different emblem types are covered by the stacking rule. Two Avenger Emblems are specifically prohibited.
- Confirm that both accessories are actually equipped. An item in the inventory, a chest, or a favorite slot is not the same as an active accessory slot.
- Test the relevant effect, not an unrelated one. The Fire Gauntlet’s damage and speed bonuses, autoswing, weapon-size increase, knockback, and Hellfire effect are separate properties. A test that observes only one property cannot establish that every other property is absent.
- Account for the glove exception. If the question concerns a larger weapon or stronger knockback after adding another glove accessory, those increases are the documented non-stacking cases.
- Allow for other modifiers. Final damage and attack behavior can be influenced by equipment and buffs beyond these two accessories, so a displayed result is not always a one-to-one readout of a single item.
How to read conflicting guides
Older material often uses “Fire Gauntlet” as though the item had one unchanging specification. It does not. Current entries list 12% melee damage and speed, autoswing for melee weapons and whips, a 10% size increase for eligible melee weapons, doubled melee knockback, and Hellfire. The legacy entry lists 9% melee damage and speed, no autoswing, no weapon-size increase, and On Fire! instead of Hellfire.
When a guide says the Fire Gauntlet does not provide a listed current effect, first check whether it was written for Old-gen console or 3DS. When a guide says an emblem cannot be combined with it, check whether the author is describing duplicate emblems rather than a Fire Gauntlet-plus-emblem setup. The current emblem rule explicitly supports combining different emblem types with the Fire Gauntlet.
Bottom line for accessory planning
For current Desktop, Console, and Mobile Terraria, equip the Fire Gauntlet and a compatible emblem when you want both sets of effects. An Avenger Emblem works with the Fire Gauntlet, and different emblem types can stack with one another. Do not equip duplicate Avenger Emblems, and do not expect glove-based weapon-size or knockback increases to stack. If you are playing Old-gen console or 3DS, use the legacy Fire Gauntlet values instead of the current-version description.
