Stopping him involves a fight and brings the guides’ reported monetary rewards; letting him proceed destroys the mine and, according to Game8, prevents re-entry.
How to start Fires in the Mine
In Shatterscarp, speak with the Aedyran Soldier at Eagle’s Reach to begin the side quest. Neoseeker describes him as injured and near the slope descending toward Ancient Lakebed. The quest leads to an abandoned sulfur mine in the Deadfall Highlands, where spiders have blocked reopening efforts involving Thirdborn and Aedyrans.
Reach the Sulfur Mines encampment
The elevator near the Sulfur Mines Basecamp is out of service, so use the alternate route rather than trying to ride it. Game8’s directions use the nearby Adra Waystone as a landmark: follow the route by the waterfalls, take the sloped path and ladder, then cross the bridge to reach the encampment. Speak with mining officials Seyon and Kada before entering the mines.
Clear the mine and spider nests
Power the Essence Generator
Game8’s walkthrough says to activate the Essence Generator with an electrical attack or ability. Its examples include an Electric Lily Seed, Giatta’s Spectral Jolt, Jolting Touch, or a shock-enchanted weapon. If you have none of those options, check your available abilities and equipment for another electrical effect.

Destroy the spider nests
Use fire against the nests, according to Game8. Listed options include Magran’s Fury, Kai’s Firestarter, Fan of Flames, and a fire-enchanted weapon. A Sarcophagus near the elevator contains Magran’s Force, a unique glove, also noted by Game8.
Choose whether to stop Darle
Near the exit, Darle explains that he intends to destroy the mine. You can stop him and fight, or accept his plan and leave while the mine is blown up.

After resolving the situation, return to Seyon and Kada at the encampment. The guides report different reactions and rewards depending on whether you stopped Darle or let the mine be destroyed. If you want to collect the reported monetary rewards and keep the mine intact, stop Darle before leaving.
