The event guides describe this as the Tides of Gold quest. They do not verify that it is still active in Fisch today.
Where to find Dr. Glimmerfin for the Golden Tide quest
The January 2025 Golden Tide walkthroughs place Dr. Glimmerfin at Moosewood. Pro Game Guides says he stands beside the leaderboard near a whiteboard. Speak with him there to start the Tides of Gold quest. This Moosewood location belongs to the historical algae event, not the later submarine quest.
How to collect all four algae samples
Each sample is caught by fishing in the corresponding event pool. The 2025 guides describe the pools as random spawns that are announced through server-wide messages; each pool has a limited number of samples.
| Sample | Where to fish |
|---|---|
| Ancient Algae | Ancient Isles area |
| Snowcap Algae | Near Snowcap Island |
| Forsaken Algae | Near Forsaken Shores |
| Mushgrove Algae | Mushgrove Swamp |
- Watch server messages for an algae-pool location.
- Travel to the region associated with the algae you still need and fish in its pool until you obtain a sample.
- Repeat for the other three algae types. Since the pools are random and samples are limited, you may need to wait for another spawn if a pool disappears or its samples are gone.
- Return all four samples to Dr. Glimmerfin at Moosewood to complete the event quest.
Destructoid’s 2025 guide suggests staying near the relevant regions and says better equipment or double server luck may help. These are dated player tips, not guaranteed mechanics or requirements.

Pro Game Guides reported the Firework Rod’s stats in its January 2025 guide as 35% lure speed, 45% luck, 0.15 control, 15% resilience, and a maximum weight of 25,000 kg. These are that guide’s dated figures, not independently verified current attributes.

Golden Tide Glimmerfin versus the submarine quest
Dr. Glimmerfin also appears as a separate Mariana’s Veil submarine quest giver. The Fisch Wiki’s entry, updated September 25, 2026, places that NPC at Roslit Bay (X: -1322, Y: 132.5, Z: 301), by an Oil Rig. That is not the Moosewood location for the Golden Tide algae quest.
The wiki says the later quest’s original drill-and-obsidian parts process changed and points players to the code TemporarySubmarine for parts. It also describes the submarine as a way to reach Volcanic Vents, with Starter, Cold, and Angler variants tied to progression. Because these details and codes can change, check the live game rather than assuming the wiki entry guarantees they still work.
