To catch a Blue Whale in Fisch, find an active Whale Migration in the Ocean and fish near its moving whales. Moby is a rarer Secret catch associated with the same event. Community guides list Squid for Moby and Shrimp for Blue Whale, but the main challenge is the very large reeling penalty both fish impose.
How to find a Whale Migration
A Whale Migration is the practical trigger to watch for when hunting either fish. The Fisch Wiki’s server-events guide reports that a migration has a 20% chance to start whenever rain begins, lasts 15 minutes, and brings two Blue Whales across the map. It gives the route as behind Sunstone Island or Mushgrove Swamp and says the event ends when both Blue Whales are caught or the whales reach their destination. The Blue Whale’s fish entry places it in the Ocean during Whale Migration and mentions the area near Ancient Isle or Sunstone Island. One entry lists Summer as its season, but the event is the more useful condition to prioritize when searching. The guides also say a Tempest Totem can force a migration to manifest. The Moby guide describes combining weather-changing totems with Tempest Totems for repeated attempts; treat both approaches as reported player strategies rather than guaranteed results. How to catch Moby
- Get to the Ocean during a Whale Migration. Follow the active event and fish where the whales are passing rather than treating Moby as a regular, always-available Ocean catch.
- Use Squid if following the listed preference. The Moby entry names Squid as preferred bait; it does not establish that other bait cannot work.
- Prepare for a difficult reel. The entry reports a -95% Progress Speed penalty. It says progress-speed bonuses from enchantments and rod passives can reduce that penalty, so those bonuses are relevant preparation if available to you.
The same page describes more than one Moby probability: a 20% chance for a migration to spawn with Moby, a 20% chance for Moby to spawn, and a fixed 15% chance that Moby replaces a Blue Whale when caught. The guide does not clarify how the first two rates interact with the replacement rate. How to catch the Blue Whale
- Look for the migration in the Ocean. Watch for the event’s moving whales around the reported routes, including behind Sunstone Island or Mushgrove Swamp; the Blue Whale entry also points to the area near Ancient Isle or Sunstone Island.
- Choose bait based on your priority. Shrimp is the listed preferred bait. A guide suggests high-luck bait as an alternative, but there is no verified comparison showing it outperforms Shrimp.
- Account for the reel penalty. The Blue Whale entry reports a -90% Progress Speed penalty, so expect a substantially slower reel than for an ordinary catch.
The event guide reports two Blue Whales per migration and says the event can end once both are caught or they reach their destination.
