Chinese fitness influencer Abeeeer apologized on October 3 after acknowledging that she broke race rules by accepting a bicycle ride during the 2026 Berlin Marathon. Reports said she had shared a 4:53:46 finish as a personal best before photographs of her on a bike near the 38-kilometer mark and scrutiny of her race splits drew attention.
What happened at the Berlin Marathon
The marathon took place on September 27, 2026. Abeeeer, who reports described as having approximately 530,000 social-media followers, posted a finishing time of 4:53:46 and presented it as a personal best. The follower count is a reported estimate, not an independently audited figure. The Independent and The Straits Times reported the race and the bicycle photograph near 38 km.
After the image circulated, the Instagram account OMTIU, which investigates questionable race performances, drew attention to her timing data. Runner’s World and The Straits Times reported that her fastest five-kilometer split was the 35–40 km segment, which overlaps with the area where she was photographed on the bicycle. What Abeeeer admitted in her apology
On October 3, Abeeeer acknowledged violating race rules. Reports said she explained that she had felt unwell, but accepted that this did not excuse her conduct. Runner’s World reproduced her apology as saying, “I will not make any defense for the above behavior.” She also described how she presented the race afterward as “a very dishonest act” that “violated the sporting spirit of fair marathon competition.” These quotations were relayed through the publication’s reporting of her social-media apology.

The Independent reported that race-related posts were subsequently removed from her RedNote/Xiaohongshu account. That report does not establish who removed them or why.
How Brooks China responded
Brooks China, which had supplied equipment and partnered with Abeeeer, said it ended its relationship with her. In a statement reproduced by The Independent, the company said it had verified the finish result and materials she provided, but had not thoroughly reviewed the full participation process, particularly segment data. It called that failure “an oversight on our part.”
