The Roblox game that appeared by mistake was Five Nights at Freddy’s: Survival Crew, an official project. On December 20, 2023, creator Scott Cawthon said a misunderstanding about his approval of a skin led to an unfinished test build being made public. He said he took it down immediately. His promise to fix the situation in 2024 was a plan, not confirmation that the game later relaunched.
What was the FNAF Roblox game that leaked?
It was Five Nights at Freddy’s: Survival Crew, a Roblox project that Cawthon confirmed was official. Contemporaneous reports identified Metaverse Team Frights as its developer. The game briefly appeared on Roblox before being removed after fans noticed it. Push Square’s December 2023 report and mxdwn Games’ contemporaneous coverage identified the project and its developer.
Why was Survival Crew taken down?
In a Reddit comment on December 20, 2023, Cawthon attributed the release to a misunderstanding: he said approval of a skin was taken as approval to release the game. He wrote, “Apparently there was a huge misunderstanding when I approved a skin, and it was interpreted as RELEASE THE GAME.” He also said, “I obviously took the game down immediately.” This is Cawthon’s account of what happened; the available reporting does not independently establish how the internal communication failed. What did the public build contain?
Cawthon described the version that appeared publicly as a very early test, with temporary assets and temporary gameplay. He said it was not ready for release and that he had not played it himself, writing: “I, myself, have never even played it yet.” The accidental appearance therefore did not amount to a finished public launch.

Did the FNAF Roblox game return?
Cawthon wrote, “I will fix in 2024,” but that statement records his intention at the time, not a confirmed relaunch. The sources available here do not establish whether Survival Crew later returned, was cancelled, or remained in development, so its later status cannot be stated as fact. Roblox search results include other FNAF-branded experiences, but those listings do not show that Survival Crew is available. Roblox’s FNAF experience search is not evidence of this specific game’s current status.
