Match the audio sample rate to the stream’s channel layout: YouTube recommends 44.1 kHz for stereo and 48 kHz for 5.1 surround. If YouTube specifically reports that primary and backup feeds have different sample rates, configure both feeds to use the same rate. The Tamil language of the channel does not determine its audio sample rate.
Identify which sample-rate warning YouTube is showing
Read the exact message in YouTube’s stream health or configuration status before changing settings. YouTube documents a sample-rate configuration warning and a separate warning for a mismatch between primary and backup feeds. The appropriate check depends on which message appears.
- Sample-rate warning: check the rate being sent and compare it with YouTube’s recommendation for the channel layout.
- Primary/backup mismatch: compare the two feeds and set them to the same audio sample rate.
YouTube’s [LiveStreams API documentation](https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/live/docs/liveStreams) states: “The recommended sample rates are 44.1kHz and 48kHz.” Its [configuration issues reference](https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/live/docs/liveStreams#configuration_issues) documents the distinct warnings, including a primary/backup rate mismatch.
Choose the rate for stereo or 5.1 audio
Confirm whether the outgoing stream is stereo or 5.1 surround, then inspect the rate the encoder actually sends. YouTube’s [encoder settings guidance](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853702) recommends different rates for these layouts:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Outgoing channel layout | YouTube-recommended sample rate | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Stereo | 44.1 kHz | Confirm the encoder output is set to 44.1 kHz. |
| 5.1 surround | 48 kHz | Confirm the encoder output is set to 48 kHz. |
Neither rate is universally correct: use the recommendation for the channel layout you are sending. Check the encoder output rather than assuming the source file or audio device’s setting is the same as the live stream’s emitted rate.
Check and correct the encoder settings
If you use OBS Studio
- Open Settings → Audio.
- Check the sampling-rate setting and confirm the audio devices selected are the ones intended for the stream. OBS identifies sampling rate as an audio setting and provides device selection in its setup guidance ([OBS Studio Overview Guide](https://obsproject.com/kb/obs-studio-overview), [Quick Start Guide](https://obsproject.com/kb/quick-start-guide)).
- Set the rate to match the outgoing layout: 44.1 kHz for stereo or 48 kHz for 5.1, following YouTube’s recommendation.
If you use another encoder
Find the encoder’s audio output or streaming-audio settings and verify the sample rate it sends, along with the channel layout. The encoder model and audio path are not specified here, so the exact menu names and controls vary. If YouTube reports a primary/backup mismatch, check the settings on both feeds and align their rates.

Test the change before relying on the 24/7 stream
- Apply the setting change to the relevant feed or feeds.
- Run a short test stream or recording and check that the outgoing channel layout and sample rate are the intended ones.
- Review YouTube’s stream-health messages. If the warning remains, note the exact message and whether a backup feed is active.
OBS’s [Quick Start Guide](https://obsproject.com/kb/quick-start-guide) recommends testing a setup. For an always-on channel, make the change during a controlled test rather than assuming the warning has cleared because a setting was edited.
Troubleshoot a warning that remains
- The rate seems right, but YouTube still warns: verify the rate actually emitted by the encoder and confirm the channel layout. A setting in the source or operating system does not by itself establish what the live output sends.
- YouTube reports a primary/backup mismatch: compare both feeds’ audio sample rates and set them identically.
- The wrong device may be supplying audio: in OBS, check the selected devices under Settings → Audio, then test again.
- The warning persists or its meaning is unclear: collect the encoder name and version, operating system, channel layout, source device or software, exact YouTube health message, and whether a backup feed is active. Those details help distinguish an output-rate issue from a feed mismatch.
The available information does not identify this channel’s encoder, operating system, warning text, or audio source chain, so it cannot establish a specific root cause. It also does not show that Tamil-language content or continuous operation causes a sample-rate warning. The documented fixes are configuration checks; this issue alone is not evidence that hardware, cabling, or an audio interface needs replacing.
