Roblox Error Code 268—“You have been kicked due to unexpected client behavior”—is usually resolved by checking for a Roblox outage, removing software conflicts, repairing the official app, and testing the network. Use the device branch below rather than applying Windows-only fixes everywhere.
Error Code 268 means Roblox has kicked the client for “unexpected client behavior.” Roblox says it generally points to a connection problem between the app and its servers or to another application—such as security software—conflicting with Roblox permissions. It is not, by itself, proof of an account ban, malware, or one universal Roblox bug.

Current Roblox installation support is for 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, macOS 10.13 or later, and ChromeOS 53 or later with Google Play enabled. Linux is not supported. Do not rely on old Windows 7/8.1 troubleshooting headings as evidence of current support.

1. Check Roblox Status first
Open the official Roblox Status page and check Player, Games, and Game Join. If an incident is active, wait for Roblox to resolve it before changing local settings.
A green status page does not rule out a regional, ISP, account-specific, or device-specific issue. It only makes local troubleshooting the more useful next step.
2. Fully close possible conflicting programs
Quit software that could interact with the Roblox client, then launch Roblox again. Roblox specifically identifies third-party programs that hinder the client, including auto-clickers and other game launchers.
Do not download “Error 268 fixers,” replacement clients, executors, injectors, cheats, or spoofers. They are not supported troubleshooting tools and can create security or account risk.
3. Allow Roblox through your firewall
On Windows, open your firewall’s allowed-app or permitted-app list and allow Roblox with the access it requests. If a security prompt appears when Roblox starts, review it carefully and permit the legitimate Roblox installation where appropriate.
Do not solve this by leaving the firewall turned off. A targeted Roblox allowance is safer and gives a clearer test result.
4. Update antivirus or anti-malware software
If antivirus or endpoint-security software is running, install its latest updates first. A vendor update may already correct a false detection or compatibility problem. Restart the PC if that product requests it, then test Roblox again.

If updated security software still flags a legitimate Roblox installation, use that product’s own false-positive or exception process to permit Roblox. On Windows, Roblox identifies its files under the current user’s local AppData Roblox folder.

Keep the exception narrow: approve the legitimate Roblox application, not an entire drive or an unknown file. If you are unsure whether a file is genuine, reinstall Roblox from the official source first instead of excluding it from scanning.
6. Check router, school/work network, and ISP restrictions
If Error 268 happens on one connection but not another, focus on that network. A household router, managed school/work network, or ISP policy can restrict Roblox connectivity. Roblox currently lists UDP ports 49152–65535 as required connectivity and advises contacting the ISP to have required access opened or activated.
Do not assume that manually forwarding ports will cure every case—especially on a managed network, where you may not control the policy. The important diagnostic is whether the same device and experience work on another known-good connection.

7. Reinstall the official Roblox application
Reinstalling replaces potentially corrupted local files and data with a current copy. Close Roblox and other programs, restart the device where practical, uninstall Roblox, restart if prompted, then install it again only from the official Roblox website or your platform’s official app store.
On Microsoft Store installations, the current app name is Roblox – Windows. Once that app is installed and you have successfully signed in, Roblox says the older app can be removed. An alternative client is not an Error 268 remedy.
8. Windows only: clear local Roblox app data after a normal reinstall fails
Use this only if the standard official reinstall did not help. Roblox’s Error 268 guidance directs Windows users to uninstall Roblox, clear the local Roblox app-data/cache using its current instructions, restart the computer, and reinstall.
This resets local Roblox data and settings. Follow the current official Roblox steps for the cleanup rather than using copied deletion commands from a forum or video; do not apply Windows AppData instructions to a Mac.
9. Test another internet connection
Try the same Roblox experience on a second known-good network, such as another household Wi-Fi connection or a phone hotspot if your plan permits it.

- It fails on both networks: continue with app/security checks and prepare a Roblox Support report.
This result does not prove that your account is at fault or that it is not; it simply narrows the likely source of the failure.
10. macOS only: review Privacy & Security permissions
After reinstalling Roblox on a Mac, open Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security and review any Roblox permission request or security message. Grant only the access Roblox legitimately requests, then retry.
macOS labels can vary by release. If there is no Roblox entry or prompt, do not create unrelated permissions just to force one; proceed to the network test and Support if needed.

On iPhone, iPad, Android, or supported Fire OS devices, close Roblox completely from the app switcher, recent-apps screen, or application manager. Then launch it again. This ends the current app session and is a useful first mobile test.
12. Restart a phone, tablet, or Chromebook
Power the device off, wait briefly, and turn it back on before retrying Roblox. On Chromebook, sign out and use the device power control as instructed by Roblox. A restart refreshes the session; it does not mean the device has a storage or hardware fault.
13. Verify date and time; update ChromeOS where relevant
On iOS, Android, Fire OS, and ChromeOS, make sure the device date, time, and time zone are accurate. Roblox recommends this so the device stays synchronized with its servers.
On Chromebook, also install available ChromeOS updates, then retry after force-closing or restarting Roblox. This is a mobile/ChromeOS step, not a reason to add unrelated date-and-time changes to a Windows PC.

14. Escalate with evidence: ISP first when the network is implicated, then Roblox Support
If Roblox fails only on one internet connection, contact that connection’s ISP or network administrator and explain that Roblox fails while it works elsewhere. If it fails after the applicable official steps—including a second-network test—submit a request through Roblox Support. Check Help and Status before submitting the ticket.

Include enough detail for someone else to reproduce or narrow the issue:
- Your Roblox username
- The exact Error 268 message and when it appears
- Device model, operating-system version, and Roblox installation channel
- The affected experience or experiences
- Whether it occurs immediately or after a repeatable amount of time
- What happened on a second internet connection
- Your security software, if any
- Recent app, security, or network changes
- Every troubleshooting step already attempted
What not to conclude from Error 268
- It does not automatically mean you are permanently banned. Moderation appeals are a separate process.
- It does not establish a hardware-ID ban, a VPN issue, corrupted DNS, a memory leak, or one particular Roblox update as the cause.
- There is no reliable fixed wait time or guaranteed permanent fix.
- Do not permanently disable firewall or antivirus protection to make the message disappear.
The most useful approach is layered: rule out a live Roblox incident, remove client conflicts, repair the official app, compare networks, then escalate with specific results. That avoids risky “fixes” and gives Roblox or your ISP the information needed to investigate the remaining cases.
