Check the PC requirements and Windows first
Compare your system with the game’s current requirements on Steam. Offworld’s FAQ lists suggested specifications and warns that they may change. Its listed minimums are 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X, 12 GB RAM, an Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD RX 570, DirectX 12, and 20 GB of available storage. The recommended specifications are 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, an Nvidia GTX 1070 8 GB or AMD equivalent, DirectX 12, and 20 GB storage. Check Steam for the current listing rather than treating these FAQ figures as immutable.

Steam’s general launch troubleshooting guidance also advises updating Windows and checking system requirements; it cautions that PCs at or near minimum requirements may have launch or performance problems. Meeting minimum specifications does not identify the cause of a crash, but falling short gives you a concrete compatibility issue to address before changing game files.
If launch hangs: disable shader pipeline caching
For a game that hangs during launch, Offworld’s PC troubleshooting article dated December 9, 2024 documents this specific workaround. It disables shader pipeline caching; it is not a general fix for every crash-to-desktop or failure to start.

- Open File Explorer and enter
%localappdata%YakisobaSavedConfigWindowsin the address bar. - Open
Engine.iniin a text editor. If it contains other settings, add the following lines rather than replacing the existing contents:[SystemSettings] r.ShaderPipelineCache.Enabled=0 - Save the file and try launching the game again.

If the game refuses to launch while Discord is running
Offworld says a recently added Discord feature may cause the game to refuse to launch and recommends disabling the relevant setting. The setting is shown in an image on Offworld’s Discord issue article, rather than identified in its text. Use the article’s image to identify the toggle; do not guess at the setting name. Then test the game with Discord open again.

If Easy Anti-Cheat or Epic Online Services appears to fail
Use this branch only when the error or launch behavior points to Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) or Epic Online Services (EOS). Offworld’s instructions say the game folder contains batch files to uninstall and reinstall these components.

- Run the uninstall batch file first.
- After it finishes, run the install batch file.
- Try launching the game and check whether the anti-cheat-related error remains.

If settings may be involved: reset the local configuration safely
Uninstalling the game does not necessarily remove its local settings. Offworld says the configuration and logs can remain in a separate local folder. To test whether saved configuration is involved while keeping a backup:
- Open File Explorer and enter
%localappdata%yakisobain the address bar. - Rename the
Savedfolder toSaved.bak. - Launch the game. Offworld says it will create default settings while the renamed folder preserves the previous settings and logs.
The procedure is documented in Offworld’s PC troubleshooting article. If the reset does not help, the backup remains available for further diagnosis.

Account for update-related setting changes without assuming the cause
Offworld’s December 6, 2024 notes for Update 1.1.2a describe it as a PC-only patch with performance optimizations and bug fixes, and say that PC settings were reset to defaults. If your settings changed after that update, this provides context for the change; it does not establish that the patch caused a current startup crash. The Update 1.1.2a notes are historical, so check current game updates for newer information.
Intel’s support page records a crash-to-desktop-on-opening issue for the Intel Arc A770 after the game’s engine changed from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. The page was last reviewed November 21, 2023, is hardware-specific, and advises contacting the developer. Treat it as historical context for Arc A770 owners, not evidence that the same issue affects all PCs or current versions: Intel’s Arc A770 support article.

When to contact Offworld support
If the relevant checks do not isolate the problem, contact Offworld support and describe whether the game hangs, refuses to launch, or exits to desktop. Include the exact error and when the issue began. For an open support ticket, Offworld may ask for a zipped copy of the local Saved folder as diagnostic logs; share it through that ticket when requested, rather than posting logs publicly.
