Players have reported Fortnite characters mantling without the intended input, including one report from an Xbox player who said hold-to-mantle was selected. That is an anecdotal report: Epic has not confirmed that it is investigating this exact behavior or published a verified fix. Here is how to check the relevant settings and where to look for updates without confusing it with a different, documented mantle bug.
What is known about the auto-mantle report?
The reported problem is unintended mantling: a character climbs or vaults when the player says they did not intend to trigger it. Reports include a player saying they chose hold-to-mantle, but the available accounts do not establish how common the behavior is, which platforms or builds are affected, or whether the reports share one cause.
Epic’s official issue channels do not confirm that this exact behavior is under investigation. Treat “under investigation” as unverified unless Epic posts a newer statement about this specific symptom.
Which mantle issue has Epic documented?
Epic’s v40.30 fixes and known-issues page, last updated May 10, 2026, says players could not mantle through specific windows in Reload’s Elite Stronghold and that issue was fixed. That is a failure to mantle in a particular location, not unintended mantling. The note does not show that the two behaviors are related.

Epic says its known-issues list is not exhaustive and is updated as issues are identified and fixes are made. An issue’s absence from the list therefore does not prove that it has not been reported.
What settings should you check?
Check Fortnite’s current in-game controls and movement settings, but treat this as a diagnostic check—not a confirmed workaround. Epic’s support guidance explains how to open settings and choose the tab for the relevant input method; the available settings can also vary with the selected game mode. It does not confirm a current exact mantle-setting label or identify a setting change that fixes unintended mantling.

- Open Fortnite’s settings and select the tab that matches the input device you are using.
- Check the selected game mode, then inspect the available controls and movement options for mantle or hurdle behavior.
- Note the setting names and values shown in your game. Labels and available options may vary, so do not assume a setting documented elsewhere is present in your mode or build.
- If the behavior continues, record what you tried and when it occurs rather than treating a setting change as a proven fix.

How can you report it usefully?
A short, reproducible clip can help distinguish an input or settings issue from a repeatable game behavior. Include the platform, game mode, current build, input device, and the relevant movement settings. If possible, capture the same action with the setting in question and with it changed, while keeping the other conditions consistent.

Epic’s known-issues page asks players to include a screenshot or video where possible: “Please include a screenshot or video of what you’re experiencing (if possible) to help us investigate and resolve issues faster.” You can check the Fortnite fixes and known-issues page for its current reporting guidance.
Where should you check for an official update?
- Fortnite Live Issues and Bugs explains where Epic publishes live issue information.
- Check Epic’s Public Status page for service availability, and @FortniteStatus for service updates.
- Check the Fortnite Communities fixes and known-issues page and Fortnite News for game issue and update posts.
A status page showing Fortnite operational only describes service availability at that time; it does not confirm that this gameplay behavior is fixed or absent. For example, the Public Status snapshot on October 7, 2026, showed Fortnite operational and no incidents reported that day.
