Both dates—and the season and event—are historical, not upcoming.
When did Midas return to Fortnite?
Midas returned with Fortnite Battle Royale update v29.01, announced by Epic Games on March 19, 2024. The Rise of Midas event followed his escape from the Underworld and introduced five sequential quest phases. The phases went live between March 19 and March 28. Completing 6, 12 and 18 event quests unlocked the Cerberus Medallion Spray, Rose of Avarice Back Bling and Queen in Gold Glider, respectively. The update also brought back Floor is Lava in a Midas-themed version with golden lava and Chapter 5 Season 2 items; its quests offered additional in-game rewards.
What weapons and powers came to Chapter 5 Season 2?
Epic’s March 8, 2024 season announcement introduced Myths & Mortals, a Greek mythology-themed season set around locations including Mount Olympus, Grim Gate, The Underworld and Brawler’s Battleground. It named four new firearms and the Thunderbolt of Zeus power at launch, with Chains of Hades announced for later in the season. Epic’s Chapter 5 Season 2 announcement

New firearms
- Gatekeeper Shotgun: a close-range shotgun that fires three rounds.
- Harbinger SMG: highly accurate on its first shot, with recoil and bloom increasing during sustained fire.
- Huntress DMR: a ranged weapon.
- Warforged Assault Rifle: a high-damage, high-rate-of-fire rifle with strong recoil.
Epic said Mythic versions of the relevant weapons could be obtained by defeating the corresponding boss. The season also brought back the Hammer Pump Shotgun, Frenzy Auto Shotgun, Nemesis AR, Thunder Burst SMG, Reaper Sniper Rifle and Ranger Pistol.
Mythic powers and equipment
- Thunderbolt of Zeus: a Mythic power with three maximum charges and a cooldown between charges.
- Wings of Icarus: enabled flight and a divebomb attack, but could burn up or be interrupted by damage.
- Chains of Hades: added later with v29.01. This Olympian Power could pull distant enemies into range; players could find it on the ground or in chests, or obtain it by defeating Hades.
The season announcement also listed Thermal Scope and Speedgrip weapon mods, found at Mod Benches in Weapons Bunkers. The v29.01 update added Shield Bubble Jr., a limited-duration defensive item found on the ground or in chests. Players could enter its protective bubble, and the emitter could be destroyed.

What else was part of the Rise of Midas update?
Alongside quests, Floor is Lava and the new items, the event included a Solo cup scheduled for March 24, 2024. Epic said competitors could play up to ten matches during their region’s three-hour window; eligibility included two-factor authentication and an account level of at least 15. These were details for that historical competition.
Epic announced that Ascendant Midas, Golden King’s Cape Back Bling and The Golden Touch Pickaxe would begin appearing in the Item Shop on March 26, 2024, at 8 PM ET. It also listed the Golden Ascension Wrap. A March 22 update said top-scoring Rise of Midas Cup competitors would receive Ascendant Midas and the cape with v29.10 before the items entered the shop. Those past schedules do not establish whether any cosmetic is available now.

The event’s April 2 end date was earlier than the announced May 24 end of Battle Pass progression. They were separate deadlines: the first applied to Rise of Midas, the second to season Battle Pass progression.
