Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, subtitled Myths & Mortals, launched on March 8, 2024, with a Greek-mythology theme, new island locations, myth-inspired weapons and powers, and a new Battle Pass. It is now a past season: Battle Pass progression ended May 24, 2024, at 2 AM ET. This retrospective guide covers what Epic introduced.
What was Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2?
Epic framed the season around Greek gods and mythology. In its March 8, 2024 announcement, the company wrote: “Pandora’s Box has been opened on the Fortnite Battle Royale Island, bringing Olympus to the battlefield.” Olympian figures including Zeus and Hades arrived alongside weapons and abilities inspired by mythological stories.

Which new locations came to the map?
Epic highlighted four places associated with gods and mythological figures. They were featured examples, not a complete list of every map change.

Epic described these locations as places the gods brought to the island, giving the season’s map a mythological setting as well as new encounters.
What new weapons and powers were added?
Epic’s launch announcement featured five weapons and two myth-inspired powers. The weapons served different roles, from close-range shotgun fire to ranged precision, while the powers offered abilities beyond ordinary gunplay.

Myth-inspired powers
- Thunderbolt of Zeus: Its limited charges and cooldown meant players could not use the lightning attack continuously.
- Wings of Icarus: Enabled flight and a divebomb attack. Epic warned that prolonged flight burns the wings and that taking too much damage can cause a crash.
- Chains of Hades: Epic announced this power as arriving later in the season, distinguishing it from the launch-day additions.
Returning weapons
Six weapons from Chapter 5 Season 1 returned: the Hammer Pump Shotgun, Frenzy Auto Shotgun, Nemesis AR, Thunder Burst SMG, Reaper Sniper Rifle, and Ranger Pistol.
How did weapon mods and bunkers work?
Two new mods were Thermal Scope and Speedgrip. Epic said the Thermal Scope could be attached to scoped weapons, more than doubled the scope view, and offered a toggleable thermal effect. Speedgrip increased movement speed while aiming.

Players could find mods at Mod Benches inside Weapons Bunkers. The bunkers unlocked during the match, so access was tied to match timing rather than being available from the start.
What was in the Myths & Mortals Battle Pass?
The Battle Pass cost 950 V-Bucks, and Epic said players could earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks back through progression. Those were the season’s historical offer terms, not a current purchase opportunity.

The Olympian outfits listed by Epic were Cerberus, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Medusa, Zeus, Artemis, and Hades. Korra was announced as a later-season unlock; Epic’s launch trailer description also listed Korra among the Battle Pass outfits.
Progression ended May 24, 2024, at 2 AM ET. The pass and its deadline are relevant as a record of the season, not as an active way to unlock these rewards.

What changed in Ranked?
Epic announced a North America Ranked Zero Build matchmaking test that routed NA-East and NA-West players to NA-Central. The stated goal was to widen the player pool and reduce queue times; Epic said the test results would determine whether the routing became a long-term solution.
Epic also adjusted progression at the upper ranks to make reaching Unreal harder and more rewarding. Players would no longer receive points for surviving without taking damage.
