GameSpot reported that they replaced Classy Courts, Lavish Lair and Pleasant Plaza, respectively. This is a historical look at the map revealed for the season’s August 16, 2024 launch—not a guide to Fortnite’s live map in October 2026.
What changed on the Chapter 5 Season 4 map?
Epic Games announced Absolute Doom as live on August 16, 2024, with Doctor Doom’s Latverian domain transplanted to the Battle Royale island. The most substantial overhaul was in the northwest, according to GameSpot’s August 15 map guide. The three new named points of interest (POIs) gave the area a strong Marvel and Doctor Doom theme.
| New location | Previous location | What Epic said about it |
|---|---|---|
| Castle Doom | Classy Courts, according to GameSpot | Doctor Doom’s castle, described as looming over the island. |
| Doomstadt | Lavish Lair, according to GameSpot | A village under Doom’s control. |
| The Raft | Pleasant Plaza, according to GameSpot | A prison for supervillains and extraterrestrial threats. |
The replacement pairings above come from GameSpot’s guide; Epic’s launch announcement supplies the official names and descriptions. These changes made the reveal more than a set of new labels: Doom’s rule shaped the setting, from his imposing castle and controlled village to a prison built to hold dangerous captives.
What were the new POIs and nearby landmarks?
Castle Doom
Castle Doom was the season’s defining addition: Epic described it as looming over the island, giving the new Latverian domain a visible centerpiece. GameSpot placed it where Classy Courts had been. A pre-launch map-preview report from ComicBook.com, published August 14, 2024, situated the castle north of Lavish Lair; that was contemporaneous reporting on the preview, rather than Epic’s official description.

Doomstadt
Doomstadt was presented by Epic as a village under Doctor Doom’s control. GameSpot mapped it to Lavish Lair, while ComicBook.com’s preview coverage said it took over part of the Underworld area. Because those accounts describe the placement differently, the clearest sourced replacement pairing is GameSpot’s: Doomstadt for Lavish Lair.
The Raft
Epic described The Raft as a prison for supervillains and extraterrestrial threats. GameSpot reported that it replaced Pleasant Plaza. ComicBook.com placed it in the water south of the Underworld in its pre-launch account of the map preview.
