At the launch of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1, Epic announced two connected changes to Battle Royale: traditional weapons would use hitscan, and four new movement features would give players more ways to cross ledges and walls. The season also introduced canting, a way to switch how a scoped weapon is aimed.
What hitscan meant for Chapter 6 Season 1 guns
Epic’s official season announcement said: “All traditional weapons in Battle Royale Chapter 6 will be hitscan!” The wording matters: it refers to traditional weapons in Battle Royale, not necessarily every weapon-like item in every Fortnite mode. Epic’s Chapter 6 Season 1 announcement did not describe every item or mode as hitscan.
In plain language, hitscan resolves a shot when it is fired rather than simulating a projectile traveling through the game world. With projectile fire, the shot travels over time; with hitscan, there is no simulated travel time for the shot to reach its target. That does not guarantee a hit, remove weapon spread, or make all weapons equally accurate.

Four movement features added at launch
Epic presented four named moves as additions to core movement. Their descriptions explain the kind of obstacle each one addresses, but do not establish precise timing, damage effects, or other performance numbers.

Epic said these features would be applied across Battle Royale, Reload, and creator-made islands when introduced. That is the launch plan stated in the announcement, not confirmation that each move remains available in every Epic-made mode today. The Fortnite Creative movement documentation discusses movement options such as mantling for parkour-style exploration and island design, but it does not establish the current availability of these Season 1 features.
Canting: switch how a scoped weapon is aimed
Epic Support describes canting as a way to toggle between first-person aiming down a scoped sight and a third-person perspective with crosshairs. It is an aiming option, separate from the four traversal moves.

Epic’s support instructions say to aim and then press the left stick or Shift to toggle; mobile uses a dedicated aiming control. Inputs can differ by platform or change, so consult the Epic Support instructions for switching between ADS and crosshair aiming or check the current in-game settings for the control on your device.
