Epic’s season announcement explains the gameplay and Battle Pass features behind the trailer; the season was historical and ended on February 21, 2025, at 2 AM ET, as announced by Epic.
What the trailer is promoting
PlayStation’s listing identifies this as the Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 6 Season 1 gameplay trailer and describes the season as bringing a new map and new weapons. Epic’s official season announcement gives the fuller picture: 鬼 HUNTERS, with Epic’s parenthetical translation “Demon Hunters,” casts players as ronin confronting demons on a new island infused with mystical energy. The trailer itself should be understood as a season overview; exact shots and character appearances are not described here.
Fortnite chapters contain seasons, which generally bring new outfits, vehicles, weapons, and gameplay features. Epic’s documentation describes seasons as typically arriving every two or three months, not on a guaranteed schedule. Epic’s chapter and season documentation provides that general context.
What was new on the island
Epic presented a varied island rather than a single themed landscape. Warrior’s Watch, Flooded Frogs, and Shogun’s Solitude offer traditional or combat-oriented settings. Seaport City and Shining Span mix urban and village environments, while Magic Mosses and Nightshift Forest emphasize supernatural exploration. The Great Turtle was introduced as a story mystery involving a search for its lost partner.

Combat, bosses, and loot
Boss encounters and medallions
Epic described Shogun X as a powerful demon warrior who roams the island gathering spirit energy. Defeating him awards the Wanderer Medallion, which grants infinite stamina and invisibility while sprinting. Night Rose attacks from another realm; her medallion automatically reloads weapons.
Weapons and Expertise Quests
Weapon Expertise Quests set combat tasks for particular weapon types. Completing them awards XP and unlocks the option to buy a Legendary version of that weapon type from characters on the map. Epic named these weapons:

Epic also said all traditional weapons in Chapter 6 Battle Royale would use hitscan, meaning shots register along the aim line rather than traveling as visible projectiles.
Typhoon Blade and Oni Masks
The Typhoon Blade combines rapid melee strikes with faster sprinting and lower stamina consumption while sprinting. Lesser demons can drop two masks: the Fire Oni Mask launches homing flame projectiles, while the Void Oni Mask lets its user teleport.

Sprites, Boons, and movement
Sprites and their Boons
Sprites add exploration and support options. Air Sprites create an updraft vortex that allows glider redeploy and can damage builds or launch vehicles. Water Sprites create healing fountains. Earth Sprites accept fed items in exchange for rewards. Taking a Sprite to a Sprite Shrine grants a Boon:
- A weapon reload-speed increase
- A reveal of nearby players after an elimination
- Increased movement speed while the Pickaxe is equipped
- Health and shield restoration while swimming
New traversal moves
Chapter 6 added Ledge Jump, Roll Landing, Wall Kick, and Wall Scramble. Epic said these movement mechanics applied across Battle Royale, Reload, and creator-made islands.

Simple Edit and new vehicles
One-button building edits
Simple Edit is a toggleable build setting: one button press executes an edit based on the building piece the player is looking at. Epic positioned it as an easier entry point, while retaining the existing edit system for players who want more options. The announcement said Epic would gather feedback and could adjust Simple Edit.
Vehicles
The new vehicles included the Rogue Bike and the Void Burn, described by Epic as a high-performance two-door car.

Battle Pass details and season end
Epic’s December 1, 2024 announcement priced the Chapter 6 Season 1 Battle Pass at 1,000 V-Bucks and said progression could return up to 1,500 V-Bucks. Named outfits were Nyanja, Jade, Kendo, Daigo, Shadow Blade Hope, Disney’s Baymax, and The Night Rose. Epic also said the Godzilla Evolved Outfit would become available through Battle Pass Quests in January. These were the original terms and planned unlocks for that season, not current offers.
Epic announced that the Battle Pass would be available to progress until February 21 at 2 AM ET, when Chapter 6 Season 1 ended. The season’s announced end date is not an indication that its Battle Pass or features remain available now.
