Epic announced that it would end on February 21, 2025, at 2 AM ET. Those dates are historical; they are not a current Fortnite season schedule. The season introduced a new island, demon encounters, weapon progression, Sprites and Boons, new movement options, and optional Simple Edit.
When did Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 start and end?
Epic launched Chapter 6 Season 1 on December 1, 2024, and announced an end date of February 21, 2025, at 2 AM ET. These are the dates for that completed season, not dates for the current Battle Royale season. Epic’s launch announcement is the source for the season dates and features described here.

What changed on the island?
Chapter 6 introduced a new island designed around a mix of traditional architecture, modern urban spaces, and supernatural settings. Its named locations included Warrior’s Watch, Flooded Frogs, Shogun’s Solitude, Seaport City, Canyon Crossing, Magic Mosses, and Nightshift Forest. Epic also highlighted the Great Turtle as an island feature.
What new bosses, weapons, and combat systems arrived?
Demons, bosses, and Medallions
Shogun X was described as a demon warrior roaming the island and gathering spirit energy. Defeating him awarded the Wanderer Medallion, which Epic said granted infinite stamina and invisibility while sprinting. Night Rose dropped the Night Rose Medallion when eliminated; its effect made weapons reload themselves.

Weapon Expertise Quests and hitscan weapons
Weapon Expertise Quests asked players to complete combat tasks, such as damaging or eliminating opponents with a particular weapon type. Completing them awarded XP and unlocked the option to buy a Legendary version of that weapon from characters on the map. Epic said traditional Battle Royale weapons in Chapter 6 would use hitscan firing.
The launch lineup included the Holo Twister Assault Rifle, Fury Assault Rifle, Veiled Precision SMG, Surgefire SMG, Sentinel Pump, Twinfire Auto Shotgun, and Oni Shotgun.

Typhoon Blade and Oni Masks
The Typhoon Blade offered rapid, precise melee strikes. While holding it, players used less stamina to sprint and moved faster. Defeated lesser demons could drop either the Fire Oni Mask, which launched homing flame projectiles, or the Void Oni Mask, which enabled teleportation.
How did Sprites and Boons work?
Sprites offered different utility depending on their type. Players could bring a Sprite to a Sprite Shrine to revitalize it and receive a Boon. Epic also said Boons could appear in chests or drop from bosses; a Boon was consumed when picked up and its effect persisted after elimination.

- Heroes - play as four hero classes, each with thousands of variations to recruit and unlock.
- Skill tree/RPG - points put into the skill tree allow you to unlock new hero abilities, upgrade weapons, Boost your team health, and more.
- Enemies - defend yourself against hordes of monsters that come from the mysterious Storm.
- Building System - The revolutionary building system allows you to quickly build structures while also juggling frenetic combat.
- Schematics/Crafting - Use the resources you find in the world to craft weapons, traps, health packs, and more.
- Air Sprite: Created an updraft vortex that could redeploy a glider and affect builds or vehicles.
- Water Sprite: Created a fountain that restored health and shields.
- Earth Sprite: Consumed items fed to it in exchange for a reward.
The four Boons Epic listed provided faster reloads (Fire), revealed nearby players after an elimination (Void), increased movement speed while a Pickaxe was equipped (Wind), or restored health and shields while swimming (Water).
What movement and building changes were added?
Four movement features
Epic added Ledge Jump, Roll Landing, Wall Kick, and Wall Scramble to core Fortnite movement, with the launch article saying they would apply in Battle Royale, Reload, and creator-made islands.

The season also introduced the Rogue Bike and Void Burn car.
Simple Edit was optional
Simple Edit let players make an edit with one button press, using the building part they were looking at to determine the edit. It offered a smaller set of edit choices than the existing system, which kept more options. Epic described it as an optional setting and said it would gather data and feedback that could lead to adjustments.

What was in the Chapter 6 Season 1 Battle Pass?
Epic announced the 鬼 HUNTERS Battle Pass at 1,000 V-Bucks, with up to 1,500 V-Bucks earnable through progression. The named Outfits were Nyanja, Jade, Kendo, Daigo, Shadow Blade Hope, Disney’s Hero Baymax, and The Night Rose. Epic also announced that the Godzilla Evolved Outfit would become available through Battle Pass quests in January and could be used in any Fortnite experience. The pass could be progressed until the announced season end, February 21 at 2 AM ET. These are launch-announced details, not confirmation of current purchase availability.
What did Epic announce for competitive play?
In a separate post, Epic described FNCS Divisional Cups and tournament integrity rules for the season. It said teaming with a cheater in a tournament would bring a minimum 28-day competitive ban, with longer penalties for subsequent violations. The post also described advancing through divisions before reaching prize-bearing competition. These are historical Chapter 6 Season 1 rules, not a statement of current tournament policy.
