Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4, Shock ‘N Awesome, brought an insect invasion, three new named locations, bug-fighting gear and a party-shared O.X.R. progression system to Battle Royale. Epic announced the season on August 6, 2025; it began August 7 and ended November 1, 2025, Eastern Time. Its Battle Pass and limited-time promotions are historical, not currently available. What was Shock ‘N Awesome?
Epic framed the season around an insect invasion and the O.X.R., the Island’s anti-bug military defense force. The reveal covered new locations, three bug enemy types, O.X.R. ranks and rewards, weapons, and a themed Battle Pass. The season is over; the details below describe what Epic announced for its 2025 run.
Which new POIs were announced?
Epic’s announcement named these three new points of interest, each with a different gameplay role:

What bug enemies did players face?
The season introduced three enemy types, ranging from small, persistent attackers to a boss fight:

Swarmer
The common, smaller bug. Epic warned that Swarmers could bog players down if left alone, making quick crowd control important.
Bomber
Found near nests, Bombers burrow and surface behind players, then attack by lobbing goop from range. Watch for the ambush and avoid staying in one exposed position.
Queen
A Queen surfaced after its nest was cleared, summoned more bugs and attacked with a body slam. Clearing infestations at certain POIs could lead to a Queen encounter. Epic said defeating one of the three Queens awarded a unique Mythic weapon and Medallion:
- The Hive Queen: Mythic Enhanced Wrecker Revolver and Surge Medallion.
- Demon’s Domain Queen: Mythic O.X.R. Assault Rifle and Springleg Medallion.
- Ranger’s Ruin Queen: Mythic Sweeper Shotgun and Carapace Medallion.
Medallions made their wearer visible on opponents’ minimaps. Epic said carrying more Medallions made the wearer’s exact-location radius more precise.

How did O.X.R. ranks and rewards work?
Players started each match at rank C and could advance through B, A, S and S+. Eliminating opposing players, looting chests and pelting pests raised rank. Rank was shared across party members, so one player’s progress counted for the group.
- Each rank-up earned an O.X.R. Drop Pod with loot and a Super Soldier Boon.
- Rank A unlocked access to O.X.R. Bunkers containing Exotic weapons.
- An S+ Drop Pod was guaranteed to contain a Mythic weapon.
Epic also named three standard Boons: Agile Aiming reduced recoil and spread and improved movement while aiming down sights; Extended Magazine increased clip size for all weapons; and Storm Forecast revealed the next Storm circle. Super Soldier Boons came from Drop Pods and scaled with rank: B reduced sprint Energy consumption; A added faster reloads; S reduced recoil and spread; and S+ added sprint speed and unlimited Energy.

Which weapons and equipment were added?
Epic listed five O.X.R.-issued weapons: the Leadspitter 3000 minigun, Sweeper Shotgun, O.X.R. Rifle, Wrecker Revolver and laser-guided Swarmstrike rocket launcher. The Bug Blaster fired explosive plasma projectiles or could be charged for a stronger shot.
The announcement also described items introduced during the season: the Blade Blaster, a Power Rangers energy sidearm with quick-tap and charged firing; the Roly Poly, a rolling and bouncing transport method that could be charged for speed; and the Hammerhead Choppa, a helicopter that could briefly hover while a player changed seats to fire from the other side.

After reaching O.X.R. Rank A, players could access bunkers with five listed Exotic items:
- Eradicator O.X.R. Rifle
- Double Trouble shotguns
- Shock n’ Slow Shockwave Launcher
- Marksman Wrecker Revolver
- Exotic Slap Berry Fizz
Epic specifically said the Shock n’ Slow Shockwave Launcher and Swarmstrike were disabled in tournaments. That restriction was distinct from the season’s general weapon lineup.
What was in the Battle Pass and seasonal promotions?
The Battle Pass included free and premium rewards, and XP from any Fortnite experience could be used to claim rewards. Premium rewards required either a 1,000 V-Bucks purchase or access through Fortnite Crew. Outfits listed in Epic’s announcement were UNSC Spartan, Yoo-mi, Agent Patch, Battle Gamer Mae, Lt. Ripp Slade, Onyx Winter and Green Ranger. Battle Pass holders could also unlock the Dino Megazord Outfit through quests starting September 16, 2025.
Epic also announced several time-limited promotions for the season: a Mighty Morphin Bundle scheduled for the Item Shop later on August 8; a Goldskull Peel Pack Back Bling with any purchase in the Fortnite web Item Shop during the season; Twitch Drops from August 7–11; and a Supercharged XP window from August 15–18. These were dated offers tied to the 2025 season, not current availability claims.
