Players have questioned several images in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 over possible AI use, but visual oddities do not prove an image was generated by AI. The clearest case has a named artist’s explanation: Sean Dove said he created the Looking McFly spray and shared Procreate layers showing his process. He also said one clock image in its collage background might itself have come from AI.
Which Fortnite Chapter 7 images were questioned?
The discussion focused on multiple assets in Chapter 7 Season 1: a Mile High Retreat poster showing a yeti in a hammock with different numbers of toes, other posters or billboards described by players as smeary, and the Looking McFly spray featuring Marty McFly. Those details prompted suspicion, but appearance alone cannot establish how an image was made.
Contemporaneous reports described the claims as player speculation, not a confirmed finding that three or more assets were AI-generated. Epic’s Chapter Seven update notes identify Marty McFly and original Fortnite outfits among the season’s Battle Pass content; they do not disclose the production method for the disputed artwork.
What did the Looking McFly artist say?
Sean Dove said he made the Looking McFly spray and shared Procreate layers to show his work. He told GamesRadar+: “I grabbed some clocks off image search, collaged them, and halftoned them.” Dove also acknowledged uncertainty about one source image: “The numbers are bad, entirely possible I grabbed an AI clock an wasn’t paying attention.”

His account supports his authorship of the spray’s composition, but it does not establish the origin of every image used in the collage. In particular, Dove’s comment about possibly selecting an AI-generated clock is not an admission that the spray itself was AI-generated.

In reports published on December 1, 2025, GamesRadar+ and Insider Gaming said they had asked Epic for comment and had not received a response at publication. The reviewed reporting does not establish that Epic confirmed AI use in the yeti poster or the other questioned environmental graphics. Their provenance remains unconfirmed in those reports.
