Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 was rescheduled to March 19, 2026, after Epic extended Chapter 7 Season 1. Reports at the time described the shift as about two weeks. The date is now historical: by October 8, 2026, Epic’s Fortnite pages showed Chapter 7 Season 4.
When was Chapter 7 Season 2 supposed to start?
Epic’s revised date for Chapter 7 Season 2 was March 19, 2026, according to Vice’s February 6 report and AS/MeriStation’s coverage. Both tied the change to an extension of Chapter 7 Season 1; contemporaneous coverage characterized the schedule shift as roughly two weeks.

What happened before Epic confirmed the date?
Vice reported that on February 5 dataminers noticed a Battle Pass Gift Token end date change after update v39.40: the token date moved from March 4 to March 18. That was an early in-game-data clue, not an official season-start announcement. The next day, Vice reported that Epic had confirmed the Season 1 extension and the March 19 start for Season 2. AS/MeriStation also reported March 19 as the revised date.
Why was the season delayed?
The contemporaneous reports did not give a specific reason for the extension. There is no established basis in those reports to attribute it to polish, technical work, or another particular cause.

Is March 19 still the current Fortnite season date?
No. March 19 was the revised start date for Chapter 7 Season 2, not a current schedule. As of October 8, 2026, Epic’s Fortnite news page and Fortnite page showed the game had advanced to Chapter 7 Season 4. The Fortnite page listed that season’s Battle Pass as ending November 1, 2026, Eastern Time.
For current timing, check the official Fortnite Battle Pass page or the Battle Pass tab in-game. Epic’s support article, “When does the current Fortnite season end?”, says the end date is shown in the Battle Pass tab and warns that season end dates can change due to unforeseen factors. It does not explain the specific 2026 extension.
