The report says Epic disqualified him, permanently barred him from Fortnite tournaments and reached a settlement that included repayment of prize money he had not fairly won. Epic said it would donate that money to charity; the report does not state the settlement’s total value.
What happened
PC Gamer reported on February 18, 2025, that Bamford shared his Epic Games account with another player, identified as Forbes, to qualify for an FNCS final. Bamford’s apology, reproduced in the report, says the account sharing violated Epic’s rules and that he was disqualified.
The report describes the competition as the 2023 FNCS Major 3: Bamford and his duo, Jace, earned a Grand Finals place but were disqualified one day before the event. The apology itself refers to qualifying for the “2024 Fortnite Championship Series grand finals.” PC Gamer does not explain the difference between those event-year descriptions, so they should not be treated as interchangeable.
What the apology and settlement included
In the reproduced apology, Bamford acknowledged sharing his account and said cheating harms players who earned their tournament places. He also said Epic had taken legal action. The statement says he was banned from participating in Fortnite tournaments forever and that a monetary settlement included prize money he had received but had not won fairly. It says Epic would donate that money to charity.

PC Gamer reported that the duo were awarded $10,000 after qualifying and that the Grand Finals had a $4 million total prize pool. Those are figures reported by PC Gamer, not independently verified here against official tournament records. The report does not identify the full settlement amount or establish that Bamford personally received the entire $10,000.
Epic’s public response
PC Gamer also quoted the official Fortnite Competitive account’s response: “Cheating is never a winning strat.” Esports commentator Rod “Slasher” Breslau praised the public accountability approach, saying: “If every game developer sued and publicly shamed their cheaters we could get this industry cleaned up in 6 months.” That is Breslau’s opinion, not a measured forecast.

What is confirmed—and what is not
The available account of the incident comes from PC Gamer’s February 18, 2025 report, which reproduces Bamford’s apology and Epic’s brief public statement. It describes the disqualification, tournament ban, settlement, and planned charity donation, but does not provide legal settlement documents or an exact total. The prize figures likewise remain attributed to PC Gamer rather than an official tournament record.
