That includes cheat software, tools, and hardware—and Epic says merely having cheats on a device used to access its games may lead to account suspension or termination. There is no legitimate, risk-free “Fortnite hack” to recommend. If you are dealing with a ban or warning, use Epic’s support and appeal process rather than trying to bypass enforcement.
What does “Fortnite hacks” mean?
Players use “Fortnite hacks” to mean cheats that alter or automate gameplay, as well as tools marketed to evade enforcement. Epic’s rules cover more than a particular kind of cheat: its Terms prohibit using, encouraging, developing, marketing, distributing, or supporting cheats, and prohibit having cheat software, tools, or hardware on a device used to access Epic’s Licensed Products. Epic describes the concern broadly, including bots, hacks, unapproved add-ons, malware, scripts, and mods. Read the Epic Games Terms of Service for the full terms.
Epic’s Terms state: “Merely having Cheats present on the device you use to access Licensed Products may result in your Epic Games Account being suspended or terminated.” That means installing or keeping a cheat on the device can create account risk even if you are not actively using it in a match.
What happens if you use cheats in Fortnite?
Epic’s dedicated cheating-offense policy says a first cheating offense receives a one-year matchmaking ban; a second offense results in a lifetime ban. The policy change took effect in April 2025. During the first ban, players can still log in and use text or voice chat, but they cannot matchmake into Epic- or creator-made experiences or spectate.

Epic’s broader Fortnite Code of Conduct describes player bans more generally: temporary bans can last up to 365 days, while permanent Fortnite bans are indefinite. The Code also says a permanent ban may mean losing access to games, V-Bucks, and purchased content. These are general ban explanations; the one-year first-offense and lifetime second-offense rules are the specific penalties Epic states for cheating.
Can third-party software get you banned?
Epic Support says it does not officially support third-party software and cannot disclose whether a specific application might result in a ban. That uncertainty is not approval. The Terms’ prohibition on cheats and on their presence on a device still applies, so do not assume an app is permitted because its maker advertises it as safe or because Epic has not publicly assessed it. Epic does not disclose detection methods, so claims that a particular cheat is “undetected” are not a reliable basis for trusting it.

Are Secure Boot, TPM, and IOMMU required for all Fortnite players?
No. Epic’s February 10, 2026 anti-cheat announcement says that, from February 19, 2026, PC players entering tournaments must enable Secure Boot, TPM, and IOMMU. Those requirements are for tournament participation on PC; they are not stated as baseline requirements for every Fortnite player.
In the same announcement, Epic says Fortnite uses Easy Anti-Cheat’s kernel-level protection and monitors suspicious behavior using data and machine learning. If you suspect another player is cheating, Epic recommends reporting them through the in-game reporting system rather than treating a clip or online accusation as proof.

What should you do about a hardware-identifiers warning?
Epic says this warning can mean it detected software that hides or changes hardware identifiers, a technique often used to avoid a hardware ban. Its Hardware Identifiers Warning support page says to remove the tool and restart Fortnite. Epic warns that leaving it installed may lead to match removal or a permanent ban.
- Remove the identifier-changing or spoofing tool. Do not try to replace it with another workaround.
- Restart Fortnite after removal and check whether the warning has cleared.
- If you cannot identify the program, review recently installed software. Epic lists VPN clients, virtual-machine applications, and system utilities that modify network adapters or hardware settings as possible causes; that does not mean ordinary VPN use is always prohibited.
- Contact Epic Support if the warning persists or you need help identifying the software. Epic says a full system reinstall may be required if the tool made deep changes.
What should you do if Epic banned your account?
Epic says it emails players information about the ban type, duration, and community rule involved. Review that message, then use the appeal route described on Epic’s Code of Conduct support page if you believe the action was made in error. An appeal is a way to ask Epic to review the decision, not a promise that it will be reversed.

How to protect your account
Use Epic’s official Safety and Security Center for account-protection guidance, including two-factor authentication. Avoid cheat sellers, ban-evasion tools, and products advertised as “ban-proof”: they do not provide a safe route around Epic’s rules.
