Epic’s March 2026 announcement named three Fortnite modes for closure: Ballistic, Fortnite Festival’s Battle Stage, and Rocket Racing. Ballistic and Battle Stage were scheduled to close on April 16; Rocket Racing was given an October 2026 schedule. That does not mean Fortnite itself is shutting down. As of October 8, reports conflict on whether Rocket Racing has actually left the game.
Which Fortnite modes were announced for closure?
The announcement covered three modes on two schedules. Ballistic and the competitive Battle Stage within Fortnite Festival were scheduled to go offline on April 16, 2026. Rocket Racing was scheduled to leave in October 2026. The March 24 report by WorthPlaying reproduced announcement details attributed to Epic; Gfinity Esports also identified Ballistic and Battle Stage and gave April 16 as their scheduled date.

| Mode | Announced schedule | What the closure affects |
|---|---|---|
| Ballistic | April 16, 2026 | The Ballistic mode. |
| Fortnite Festival Battle Stage | April 16, 2026 | Battle Stage, not Festival’s Main Stage or Jam Stage. |
| Rocket Racing | October 2026 | The mode and, according to the reported announcement, Rocket Racing-template UEFN islands and the track creation template. |
Is Rocket Racing still available?
Its current status is unclear from the available sources as of October 8, 2026. ClaimCodes.gg reports that an in-game notice set October 1 as the removal date and says an October 1 update removed the mode. However, Epic’s Fortnite homepage and Rocket Racing experience page still list it. Those listings may be stale, or the removal report may be incorrect; the conflicting evidence does not establish whether the mode remains playable. Check Fortnite in-game or look for a current Epic notice before relying on either listing.
What did the Rocket Racing plan mean for players and creators?
Players
The reported March announcement said Rocket Racing Quests would stop being available the following week and that no further Ranked rewards were planned for that season. These were announcement-era plans, and the report does not confirm which changes were ultimately implemented.

UEFN creators
The reported plan covered islands made using Rocket Racing templates as well as the track creation template in UEFN—not just Epic’s official playlist. It also said car physics and hazards would be added to UEFN’s general toolkit, which could give creators tools to adapt projects. The announcement report does not provide complete migration instructions or guarantee that existing islands would remain playable. Creators should preserve project files and check Epic’s current UEFN documentation and in-game notices for practical guidance.

No such conclusion follows from the announced mode closures. The changes concern selected experiences and related creator content, not the entire Fortnite game. Epic’s Fortnite homepage lists other experiences, and its news index shows ongoing 2026 updates. The announcement does not establish anything about Fortnite’s long-term future.
