Was Fortnite v37.50 the Fortnitemares update?
No. Epic dates v37.50 to October 9, 2025, and its official notes describe ecosystem and creator-facing additions. Epic’s Fortnitemares announcement came a year later, on October 1, 2026, with Reload content scheduled for October 8. The two releases should not be treated as one patch.

What changed in Fortnite v37.50?
The October 9, 2025 v37.50 notes focus on tools and content for creators, alongside LEGO island improvements. Epic’s summary includes:
- Options for converting islands to brand islands.
- LEGO island features and enhancements, including a PvP Extraction Template.
- Pumpkin containers and Hive Stash swarmer bugs.
- New Butter Barn prefabs and galleries.
The full documentation also lists new LEGO tools and items, more than 250 LEGO NPC styles, a Stat Powerup device, KPop Demon Hunters VFX auras, and creator-facing fixes. These notes do not identify a Battle Royale Fortnitemares launch.

What is in Fortnitemares 2026?
Epic says the October 2026 celebration spans Battle Royale, Horde Rush and Reload. In Battle Royale, the announced locations are Freaky Fields and Nightmare Neighborhood. Freddy Krueger appears as a boss there; defeating him grants Freddy’s Nightmare, an ability that lets players teleport and slash.
Weapons and Overrides
The Bonerattler SMG reveals enemies, while the Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher return. Epic’s Fortnite Communities post describes additional loot and temporary Overrides—effects that alter how a player fights or moves:

Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronics
Players can defeat Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic bosses and possess them. If the player’s health runs out while possessing one, there is a brief window before the animatronic shell breaks and the player returns to the fight, according to Epic’s Communities post.

When does Nitemare Island arrive in Reload?
The refreshed island arrived in Reload on October 8, 2026, under the name Nitemare Island: Kado’s Curse. Epic’s Fortnitemares announcement also says Stranger Things and Squid Grounds join the Reload map lineup. The Communities post calls the island a refreshed Nightmare Island, places Elite Kado Thorne in charge, and describes horror weapons and Siphon loot that restores health as players deal damage. This is distinct from the first Nitemare Island announcement: Epic’s 2025 Fortnitemares announcement said that all-new Reload island would debut on October 10, 2025. Epic’s 2025 announcement.

Which Halloween collaborations are coming to Fortnite?
Epic’s October 1, 2026 announcement names collaborations or character arrivals during October from Five Nights at Freddy’s, Hazbin Hotel, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, Obsession, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, 99 Nights in the Forest, The Purge, Slender Man, Predator: Badlands and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.
The announcement says Five Nights at Freddy’s outfits are already live in the Shop; the other named outfits and accessories are set to follow during the month. It does not give a complete item-by-item release calendar or prices. See Epic’s Fortnitemares announcement.

For comparison, Epic’s October 9, 2025 Fortnitemares announcement highlighted Mother of Thorns/Doja Cat and characters including Jason, Wednesday Addams, Scooby-Doo and Ghost Face. That 2025 lineup and its October 10 Nitemare Island debut are separate from the 2026 collaborations and Reload season.
