Fortnite Reload launched in June 2024 as a 40-player Battle Royale mode with a compact map, squad reboots and familiar Fortnite locations and weapons. Epic named Tilted Towers and Retail Row among the launch locations, and highlighted weapons including the Tactical Shotgun and Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. Those are launch examples—not a complete or permanently current lineup. Reload’s maps and loot have changed since then, and Epic’s latest Reload announcement found here, dated April 20, 2026, does not confirm what is live on October 8, 2026.
How Fortnite Reload works
At launch, Epic described Reload as a 40-player experience on a tighter battlefield. Players could reboot as long as at least one teammate remained in the match; if the entire team was eliminated, the team was out. That squad-focused format is the setting for Reload’s returning locations and weapons, rather than a promise that every item or place from earlier Fortnite seasons would be available.

Epic’s June 22, 2024 launch announcement introduced the mode and its initial examples of classic content.
Which classic locations were in Reload at launch?
Epic specifically named Tilted Towers and Retail Row as familiar locations in its launch announcement. They are examples from the June 2024 introduction; they should not be read as a guarantee that either location is on the live map today.

Which classic weapons did Epic name?
Epic’s launch examples included the Tactical Shotgun, Rocket Launcher, Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle and Lever Action Shotgun. This was a short selection of weapons players would see in Reload, not an exhaustive inventory or a permanent loot-pool list.
How Reload’s maps and loot changed
Epic’s later announcements show that Reload expanded beyond its original nostalgic framing, with different maps, named locations and weapons introduced over time. The dates below describe what Epic announced at those points; past rotation schedules are not current availability information.

| Announcement | Map and named locations | Loot examples | What the timing means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slurp Rush, April 15, 2025 | A Reload island drawing on familiar Chapter 2 locations, including Slurpy Swamp. | Epic listed additions and weapons that remained in the pool; the announcement does not establish those items as current. | Epic said Slurp Rush would be the sole Reload map for two weeks, then join rotation with an April 29, 2025 hotfix. Those dates are historical. |
| Squid Grounds, June 24, 2025 | A themed map inspired by Squid Game, with named points of interest in Epic’s announcement. | Epic specified a loot pool for the map at its introduction. | Epic announced a June 27 arrival, an exclusive launch-weekend period and a June 30 rotation date. These are 2025 schedule details, not today’s rotation. |
| Elite Stronghold, April 20, 2026 | Elite Armory, Chiseled Cubes and Hostile Hold. | Unvault examples included the Gatekeeper Shotgun, Holo-Twister Assault Rifle and Seven Power Gloves. | Epic said Elite Stronghold would rotate alongside Venture and Slurp Rush beginning April 30, 2026. The announcement does not verify the October 2026 lineup. |
What is confirmed about the current Reload rotation?
The newest official Reload announcement identified here is Epic’s April 20, 2026 update for Elite Stronghold. It documents that map’s introduction, named locations, unvaults and announced rotation plan; it does not establish which map or weapons are live on October 8, 2026. For a present-day answer, check the in-game Reload playlist and map details rather than treating a dated launch or update article as a live inventory.
