Epic described Reload as a 40-player experience on a compact island with familiar locations, including Tilted Towers and Retail Row. That is a launch-era fact—not confirmation that Tilted Towers is playable in Reload today.
What “Fortnite OG returns” meant for Reload
Epic’s June 22, 2024 announcement described Reload as “a 40-player experience on a tighter map featuring familiar locations like Tilted Towers and Retail Row.” The announcement framed the mode as a return to familiar Fortnite locations and weapons, rather than saying that the full original Battle Royale island had returned. Epic’s Reload launch announcement is the source for those details.
So the headline’s “OG” wording refers to the nostalgic locations and gear in Reload’s launch offering. Tilted Towers featured on that launch map; the announcement does not establish its availability in the current rotation.
How Reload worked at launch
Squad reboots kept matches moving
At launch, players could queue in Fill or No Fill squads. An eliminated player received an individual reboot timer as long as at least one teammate remained alive. Epic said timers began at 30 seconds and scaled to 40 seconds later in the match. A teammate’s knock, elimination, or squad wipe shortened reboot timers by 2, 4, or 10 seconds, respectively. Reboots stopped toward the end of a match; if the whole squad was eliminated, it was out.

A compact island with familiar loot
The launch island had no drivable vehicles. Epic’s announcement listed weapons and items including the Revolver, Tactical Shotgun, Lever Action Shotgun, OG Heavy Shotgun, Tactical Submachine Gun, Infantry Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, and Grappler. These are launch details, not a statement of the current Reload loot pool.
Launch rewards were time-specific
Epic also described launch quest rewards: the Digital Dogfight Contrail, Pool Cubes Wrap, and NaNa Bath Back Bling. The announcement said a Victory Royale earned the Rezzbrella Glider. Those were rewards associated with the 2024 launch; the announcement does not verify that they are available now.
What Epic’s 2026 update says about Reload maps
In an April 30, 2026 update, the Epic Games Store said Elite Stronghold had joined Venture and Slurp Rush in Reload’s map rotation with v40.30. It also described solo, duo, and four-player squad options, with Build and Zero Build variants. Epic’s update on Elite Stronghold names those maps, but does not confirm whether Tilted Towers is currently playable or whether the named maps are the entire rotation.

Is Tilted Towers playable in Reload now?
The available official update does not settle that question. It confirms that Tilted Towers featured on Reload’s June 2024 launch map, while Epic’s April 2026 map update names Elite Stronghold, Venture, and Slurp Rush without saying whether Tilted Towers remains in rotation. It would be inaccurate to treat either the launch announcement or the 2026 list as proof of its current availability.
Reload is also a distinct mode; the launch announcement does not establish that the full original Battle Royale island is available there. For a current answer about a particular session, check the in-game mode and map information rather than inferring availability from the 2024 launch announcement.
