The artwork was also replaced on Spotify and Apple Music. The label Trap Nation said the image had been a non-final placeholder and apologized; Epic told Dexerto that it had changed the Fortnite art after the artist did.
What fans found on the Fortnite cover
The “Meow” Jam Track went live in Fortnite on 19 September 2026 with artwork reused from Ironmouse’s album Club Ironmouse, released in January 2026. A Reddit user noticed a white, star-shaped Gemini watermark in the image’s bottom-right corner. It was easy to miss because similar star shapes appeared in the border design.

The reporting attributes the watermark to the album cover distributed on digital music platforms, rather than to an image created for Fortnite by Epic. Epic told Dexerto that the art came from the artist and was the same artwork used across demand-side platforms. Epic said it changed the Fortnite image after the artist changed it elsewhere.
How the artwork changed
- January 2026: Ironmouse’s Club Ironmouse album was released.
- 19 September 2026: “Meow” appeared as a Fortnite Jam Track with the album artwork.
- 2 October 2026: After a fan tagged her, Ironmouse said she had not known about the AI use and that her team had demanded changes.
- 3 October 2026: Trap Nation said it was working with Ironmouse to replace the image across platforms. The label described the art as a non-final placeholder, said Ironmouse was unaware AI had been used, and apologized.
- By 5 October 2026: Fortnite had replaced the cover with a version without the watermark. Apple Music and Spotify showed the replacement as well.
Epic did not make a public announcement about the change. The timeline and statements above were reported by Dexerto and GoSuGamers; the platform-response details were attributed to Epic’s comments to Dexerto.

Who was responsible for the image?
The available reporting distinguishes the image’s origin from Fortnite’s decision to display it. Epic said the artwork was supplied by the artist and matched the version used across other music platforms. Trap Nation, the label, said the image was a placeholder and that Ironmouse had not known generative AI was involved. These accounts do not establish which individual created the original cover or who supplied the placeholder file.
One artist who worked on the album told Dexerto they used Procreate and Adobe Illustrator but were not involved in designing its cover. That account does not identify the cover’s designer. It therefore would be inaccurate to treat the watermark alone as proof that Ironmouse personally made or approved AI-generated art.

Ironmouse is known for opposing generative AI. Dexerto also reported that she canceled a sponsored stream for Neverness To Everness in June 2026 over AI concerns. That context helps explain why the discovery drew scrutiny, but does not resolve who selected the cover file.

This was a cover-art correction, not evidence that Epic generated the image. Epic’s statement, as reported by Dexerto, says it received the same art used by music platforms and updated Fortnite after the artist’s change. The available reporting does not establish that Epic applied Gemini to the image or that the game’s development process produced this specific cover.

Players had previously criticized a poster they said showed a character with nine toes, and Epic later released a developer video showing AI experimentation during the concept phase, according to Aftermath. Those separate examples are not proof of how the “Meow” cover was made or who was responsible for it.

Fan reactions to the Ironmouse episode were divided, including criticism of her consistency and defenses of her response. The reported statements from Ironmouse and Trap Nation point to her team seeking a replacement and the label apologizing; neither settles broader arguments about AI use in games or music artwork.
