Fancy Ragdoll is a 1,200-V-Buck Fortnite Sidekick whose main advantage is appearance customization. You can choose from several coat patterns and colors for its fluffy cat design, but the choice is permanent once you lock it. Sidekicks are cosmetic companions: they follow you, emote and react to the world, provide no combat or loot benefit, and cannot take damage.
That makes Fancy Ragdoll a good fit for players who want a personalized cat companion and are comfortable committing to one look. It is a weaker value if you expect gameplay utility or want to change styles frequently. More than 30 Sidekicks are available across Epic-created and licensed designs, so the right comparison depends on customization, visual theme, permanence and where you intend to use the companion.

What Fancy Ragdoll is
Fancy Ragdoll is a digital Fortnite Sidekick cosmetic in the Chic Cat set. Epic’s official listing identifies it as a Chapter 7, Season 4 introduction and lists the price at 1,200 V-Bucks. Item-Shop inventory and prices can change, so verify the live listing before spending currency.
The companion’s defining feature is its configurable appearance. Epic describes “several coat patterns and colors,” allowing combinations that make one Fancy Ragdoll look different from another. The customization is visual only; it does not change movement, reactions, durability or any other gameplay property.

Fancy Ragdoll is not a pet that fights alongside you. It is a social cosmetic that stays near your character, performs reactions and emotes, and remains unaffected by incoming damage.
How Sidekicks work in Fortnite
Cosmetic companions, not combat helpers
Epic Player Support defines Sidekicks as “friendly cosmetics that stay by your side.” They do not provide any gameplay advantage and do not take damage. A Sidekick cannot increase health, reveal opponents, find loot, attack enemies, block shots or improve survivability. Choosing Fancy Ragdoll over another Sidekick therefore changes presentation, not your Battle Royale performance.
Where Sidekicks can appear
Sidekicks are supported in:
- Battle Royale
- Save the World
- Festival, including backstage areas
- LEGO Fortnite
- Developer-made islands that enable Sidekicks
Support is mode- and island-dependent. An island creator can decide whether Sidekicks are enabled, so a companion that works in Battle Royale may not appear in every Creative experience.

In Battle Royale, players can see only their team’s Sidekicks. Visibility can differ in other experiences. This matters if you are buying Fancy Ragdoll mainly for screenshots or social play: the cosmetic may be visible to fewer people than your outfit in a standard match.

Fancy Ragdoll’s customization: the important catch
You choose once, then the choice is permanent
The listing says you make the Sidekick your own by locking in its appearance after purchase and that your choices are permanent. Treat the confirmation screen as a final selection, not a preview that can be edited later.

Before confirming, inspect every available coat pattern and color, compare them with the outfits and wraps you commonly use, and make sure the selected combination is the one you want to keep. The lock applies to the owned appearance; changing your character outfit later does not reopen the Sidekick’s customization.
Buying another copy is the documented route to another look
Epic Player Support says a player can buy a Sidekick multiple times for different appearances. Each owned appearance must be unique, and an appearance that has already been locked cannot be changed. If you want a second Fancy Ragdoll style, the supported approach is to purchase another copy and select a different combination rather than trying to edit the first one.

This makes the effective cost higher for collectors who want several styles. One purchase gives you one locked appearance; additional appearances require additional purchases at the price shown when the item is offered.
How this differs from licensed Sidekicks
Epic’s UEFN documentation states that Sidekicks from intellectual-property licenses cannot be customized. That is a key distinction from Epic-created options such as Fancy Ragdoll. A licensed companion may have a fixed, recognizable design, while a customizable Sidekick can expose channels for colors, patterns, eyes, quirks or builds. Do not assume every Sidekick in the catalog offers the same controls.

Visual identity
Fancy Ragdoll is a cat companion with coat customization. Epic’s catalog spans dog, dinosaur, cat, fantasy, food-themed and other designs. The named alternatives include Bonesy, Spike, Lil’ Raptor, Doggo Jr., Peels, Flopsticks, Cuddle Team Jr., Dummy Dog, Mothman Jr., Teacup Chi-Pup, The Best Cat, Leviathan Jr., Phantom Guffpup, Doodle-Doo, Globey, Lil’ Dill, Kit, Lil’ Lootie, Kitsune, Wind-a-saurus, Remus, Cupid Kitty, Woodsy, Ice Prince, Howlee Skye, Empress, Bun Bun Jr., Miso, Scales, Slurpuppy, Dodger, Toony Tabby, Meowdas Sphynx and The Bark Voyager.
Names alone do not establish each item’s exact model, color options, price or current availability. Use the in-game preview and the individual listing when choosing among them.
Customization depth
Epic’s developer documentation describes customization channels that can include colors, patterns, eyes, quirks and builds. Those channels are not necessarily present on every Sidekick. Fancy Ragdoll’s confirmed options are coat patterns and colors. If eye styles, animations or accessories matter to you, check the specific Sidekick’s preview rather than assuming that a broad catalog feature applies to every companion.
Permanence
Fancy Ragdoll has a one-time permanent lock. Epic’s repeat-purchase rule also requires unique appearances for each owned copy. This is the clearest decision point in the comparison:
- Choose Fancy Ragdoll if you are happy to make one deliberate style choice and keep it.
- Choose a fixed-design or licensed Sidekick if you prefer a specific character look and do not need editable options.
- Choose another customizable Sidekick only after confirming which channels it actually exposes and whether its lock works the same way.
Catalog of available alternatives
Epic’s developer documentation says there are over 30 Sidekicks and publishes a named catalog. The following companions are the documented comparison set for Fancy Ragdoll:

The catalog establishes breadth, not a permanent store rotation. A companion can be documented by Epic yet unavailable in the shop when you look. It also does not mean every entry has the same customization channels or price.
Which Sidekick has the best customization?
There is no universal winner because “best” depends on the type of control you want. Fancy Ragdoll is the strongest documented choice for coat-focused customization: its official listing specifically promises multiple coat patterns and colors. That gives it more personal variation than a fixed design, while keeping the decision relatively simple.
If your priority is maximum technical control, look for a Sidekick listing or preview that exposes more than coat options. Epic’s documented channels can include:
- Colors: the base hues used by the model.
- Patterns: markings or surface layouts, such as the coat choices confirmed for Fancy Ragdoll.
- Eyes: selectable eye treatments when offered.
- Quirks: personality or behavior options when offered.
- Builds: body-shape options when offered.
These labels describe the available customization system, not a promise that every Sidekick includes every channel. Licensed Sidekicks are excluded from customization under Epic’s UEFN documentation.
Is Fancy Ragdoll worth 1,200 V-Bucks?
It is worth considering when
- You specifically want a fluffy cat companion in the Chic Cat theme.
- You value choosing a coat pattern and color instead of using a single fixed appearance.
- You understand that the selected combination cannot be edited later.
- You regularly play modes that support Sidekicks and care about companion emotes or reactions.
- You are comfortable paying the current Item-Shop price for a cosmetic with no gameplay effect.
It is a poor fit when
- You want a Sidekick to help in combat, reveal loot or absorb damage.
- You change cosmetic themes often and expect to redesign the same companion repeatedly.
- You are buying mainly so every opponent can see it; Battle Royale visibility is limited to your team’s Sidekicks.
- You prefer a fixed licensed character and do not want to spend time selecting a permanent appearance.
- You would need several appearances to match different outfits, since each additional locked appearance requires another purchase.
The value judgment is therefore personal and cosmetic. At 1,200 V-Bucks, Fancy Ragdoll is paying for a customizable cat presentation, not for an ability, stat boost or collection of interchangeable skins.

How to choose before buying
- Confirm the live listing. Check that Fancy Ragdoll is currently available and that the displayed price is still 1,200 V-Bucks.
- Preview the model with your usual outfits. Judge the companion beside the characters you actually use, not only in the shop thumbnail.
- Review every coat option. Decide whether one pattern-and-color combination is enough for your collection.
- Read the lock-in prompt carefully. Do not confirm until you accept that the appearance is permanent.
- Compare the catalog. Preview other named Sidekicks and check whether they are customizable, fixed or licensed.
- Check your modes. Make sure the experiences where you play support Sidekicks.
- Budget for duplicates. If you want multiple looks, account for separate purchases and the uniqueness rule.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Expecting gameplay utility
Sidekicks are not combat units. Their reactions and presence are cosmetic. Select one for its design, not for an imagined advantage in a match.
Assuming customization can be reset
Fancy Ragdoll’s listing explicitly says choices are permanent. Take screenshots or notes of your preferred combination before confirming, and do not treat the first purchase as a reversible trial.
Buying duplicates with the same appearance
Epic’s support guidance requires each owned appearance to be unique. Plan distinct combinations if you purchase the same Sidekick more than once.

Developer-made islands can enable or disable Sidekicks. If the companion is missing, check whether the experience supports the feature rather than assuming the purchase failed.
Assuming every player can see it
In Battle Royale, only team members can see the team’s Sidekicks. The cosmetic may be present even when opponents cannot view it.
Bottom line on Fancy Ragdoll versus the alternatives
Fancy Ragdoll is a focused cosmetic purchase: 1,200 V-Bucks for a fluffy cat Sidekick with several coat patterns and colors, followed by a permanent appearance lock. It stands out among the catalog because its customization is clearly documented, but it does not offer more gameplay value than any other Sidekick. Choose it when the Chic Cat look and one carefully selected coat are what you want. Choose another companion when a different theme, a fixed licensed design or a broader set of confirmed customization channels better matches your collection—and always verify the current Item-Shop listing before buying.
