Fortnite’s v40.10 update brought a short-lived April Fools event on April 1, 2026, with Big Heads, Finger Guns, Shoulder Riding, Llama Riding and Fall Damage Immunity. Epic’s separate creator release notes also covered Star Wars assets, new items and UEFN changes. The event effects were temporary; they are not current features.
What’s new in the Fortnite April Fools update?
Epic’s player-facing announcement listed five April Fools effects. Their mode availability differed:

How long was the April Fools update active?
Epic said the update was active from April 1, 2026, at 5:30 AM ET until April 2, 2026, at 5:30 AM ET. The Communities Team described it as “active for 24 hours only.” Epic also said the update would remain in Blitz until April 8, 2026. Those dates are the historical event schedule, not an indication that the effects remain playable.

Epic’s announcement also highlighted shotgun and SMG balance changes, English text-to-speech and speech-to-text options, and gameplay and mobile fixes. It did not provide a complete platform-by-platform download-size or build-number table in the official material cited here, so neither is listed.
