For Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, these are 10 strong Zero Build weapon choices across close-range, ranged, precision, and follow-up roles—not a universal ranking. The best pick depends on your aim, preferred engagement distance, loadout space, and whether the weapon is available in your match. Epic announced the season on August 20, 2026; check the live loot pool before relying on any seasonal list.
Zero Build rewards weapons that let you deal damage, finish a fight, or disengage without relying on player-built cover. A high damage-per-second figure alone does not make a weapon best: shot placement, firing pattern, magazine size, reload time, and role in your loadout all matter. The list below is an editorial selection from Chapter 7 Season 4’s available records, not an official Epic ranking or a claim about win rates.
Epic’s season announcement and v42.00 Battle Royale notes establish the season’s new weapons and unvaults. The current-status entries below are cross-checked against Fortnite Gorilla Hub’s October 8, 2026 weapon snapshot. Its figures are catalog statistics, not controlled Zero Build tests. Fortnite Guns’ dated September 3, 2026 fan-made weapon snapshot is another reference, not an Epic source.
10 strong weapons for Fortnite Zero Build
1. Mega Buster — flexible pressure at multiple ranges
Epic describes the Mega Buster as an arm cannon that can fire single energy pellets, quick-charged shots, or long-charged explosive projectiles, including while sprinting or slide-boosting. That range of firing options makes it an appealing choice when a Zero Build fight shifts between movement and damage windows. The Gorilla Hub snapshot lists top damage of 120, top headshot damage of 180, top DPS of 312, a 50-round magazine, and a one-second reload. Those are catalog values, not a guarantee of practical damage in a match; learn which firing mode suits the distance and timing you can manage.

2. Pump Shotgun — high damage from a well-placed shot
The Pump Shotgun suits players who can make a close-range shot count and then use cover or movement while it cycles. Gorilla Hub lists top damage of 119 and top headshot damage of 238, with a five-shell magazine and a 3.78-second reload. Its limited capacity and reload burden make missed shots costly when you have no build pieces to create immediate protection.
3. 8-Bit Shotgun — a faster-firing close-range option
Introduced in the season, the 8-Bit Shotgun is described by Epic as an automatic shotgun with a game-cartridge reload and pixel effects. Gorilla Hub lists top damage of 108, top headshot damage of 162, top DPS of 145.8, a 10-round magazine, and a 2.52-second reload. Its magazine offers more opportunities to follow up than the Pump’s, while its listed per-shot ceiling is lower. Choose based on whether you prefer a deliberate shot or sustained close-range pressure.

4. Assault Rifle — an all-round rifle for flexible engagements
The Assault Rifle is among the weapons Epic listed as unvaulted for the season and appears in the current-status snapshot. It can fill the general rifle role in a loadout when you want to engage beyond shotgun distance without specializing in a narrow use case. The cited sources do not establish a Zero Build accuracy or recoil advantage, so use the firing pattern and range at which your own shots stay on target rather than assuming it will outperform another rifle.
5. Heavy Assault Rifle — a rifle choice for deliberate shots
The Heavy Assault Rifle appears in the current-status weapon snapshot. Its place here is as an alternative for players who would rather favor controlled rifle shots than select a weapon solely for a high listed fire rate. The available sources do not provide a controlled handling comparison or a Zero Build performance result, so treat it as a preference-driven option and assess whether its firing pattern works for your aim.

- SLAM-FIRE ACTION: Blast all 15 darts fast with slam-fire action. Hold down the trigger and keep pumping the grip back and forth
6. Infantry Rifle — a precision-oriented ranged pick
The Infantry Rifle is also listed as current in the October 8 snapshot. It can suit players who are comfortable aiming carefully at range and want a rifle option alongside a close-range weapon. The sources do not establish its comparative accuracy, recoil, or win-rate impact in Zero Build; take it when its shot rhythm feels dependable to you, not because the name implies a proven advantage.
7. Ranger Assault Rifle — another rifle option from the season’s unvaults
Epic lists the Ranger Assault Rifle among the unvaulted weapons, and the dated reference snapshot includes it in its rarity-level stat coverage. That makes it a season-relevant alternative for players who want a rifle slot without assuming every rifle handles the same. The available material does not support a direct performance ranking against the Assault Rifle or Heavy Assault Rifle, so compare their in-match firing feel and the ranges at which you land shots.

8. Tactical Pistol — quick follow-up shots in a compact slot
The Tactical Pistol appears in the current-status snapshot, and Epic lists it among the unvaults. Gorilla Hub records top damage of 30, top headshot damage of 60, top DPS of 207, a 15-round magazine, and a 1.3-second reload. Its listed DPS and magazine make it a possible follow-up choice when you need repeated shots, but those figures do not establish how often it wins fights. Its lower listed damage per shot means accuracy and sustained hits matter.
9. Sweeper Shotgun — an alternative for close fights
The Sweeper Shotgun is listed as current in the weapon snapshot and included in Fortnite Guns’ dated rarity-level stat coverage. It gives players another shotgun option to consider for close engagements, particularly when they prefer its feel over the Pump or 8-Bit Shotgun. Neither source establishes a controlled comparison of its spread, handling, or effectiveness in Zero Build, so the evidence supports inclusion as an available option rather than a claim that it beats the other shotguns.
10. Midas’ Masterpiece — a limited-ammo high-risk pick
Epic describes Midas’ Masterpiece as a single-fire golden pistol capable of eliminating an opponent with one headshot, but warns that its ammunition is limited and that players must be lucky to get it when it spawns. That makes it an exceptional, availability-dependent option rather than a reliable weapon to build every loadout around. Consider it only if you acquire it and are confident in your aim; conserve its scarce shots.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose among them for your loadout
- Start with your close-range plan. Pick the Pump for a high-damage shot, or consider the 8-Bit Shotgun or Sweeper if you prefer another shotgun option. Their roles are alternatives, not proof of a single best choice.
- Cover the distance where you struggle. Choose a rifle you can keep on target—Assault Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, Infantry Rifle, or Ranger Assault Rifle—rather than picking by name or a single database number.
- Decide whether you need follow-up pressure. The Tactical Pistol offers a compact repeated-shot option; the Mega Buster offers several firing modes according to Epic. Either choice depends on your aim and how you expect to take fights.
- Account for reload exposure. The catalog lists a five-round magazine and 3.78-second reload for the Pump, compared with 10 rounds and 2.52 seconds for the 8-Bit Shotgun. In Zero Build, a reload during an exposed fight can be a meaningful trade-off.
- Treat limited access honestly. Midas’ Masterpiece depends on a spawn and has limited ammunition, so it should not displace a dependable plan if you do not find it.
What the rankings and stats do—and do not—show
Epic’s update notes confirm the season’s new weapons and unvaults, while the weapon snapshot supplies current-status labels and catalog values. Neither source provides Zero Build win rates, usage shares, controlled weapon tests, or an official top-ten order. A larger DPS number therefore cannot tell you which weapon will perform best for your aim, range, or match situation. Fortnite’s pool and balance change seasonally, and some third-party records are labeled Reload or archived rather than Current; confirm availability in-game before planning around a weapon.
