The mode, called Quints, was announced for the South Park collaboration and ran from January 9 to February 5, 2026. Whether it is playable again now is unverified in the available reporting.
What did the Fortnite five-player squad leak claim?
On December 4, 2025, Insider Gaming reported a leak attributed to Fortnite leaker Fecoo_. The report pointed to a “sub link code” in playlist data and a “Quints” label as signs that a five-player Battle Royale playlist was in development. It was leak evidence, not an Epic announcement, and it did not establish a launch date or whether the mode would be permanent. Insider Gaming’s report described the claim at the time.

What happened after the leak?
On January 8, 2026, GamesRadar+ reported that Epic had announced Quints as a limited-time playlist tied to the South Park collaboration. It was scheduled to begin January 9 and end February 5, 2026. The announcement confirmed a temporary event playlist, not a permanent expansion of standard squad sizes. GamesRadar+ covered the announcement and schedule.
How did Quints work?
TechRadar reported that Quints allowed five-player teams in both Battle Royale and Zero Build. Its report described matches with 20 teams; multiplying 20 teams by five players gives a derived total of 100 players per match, rather than a separately published Epic statistic. TechRadar’s report gave the mode details and scheduled end date.

Is five-player Fortnite available now?
The reports establish that Quints was scheduled to end on February 5, 2026. They do not confirm whether it returned afterward or whether five-player Battle Royale teams are available on October 8, 2026. Treat current availability as unverified rather than assuming the limited-time playlist is still live.
Did Epic confirm that Quints would become permanent?
No. GamesRadar+ quoted Fortnite design director Ted Timmins responding to a fan’s question about whether a successful mode could stay permanently: “Make it successful then we’ll talk.” That response was not a promise that Quints—or five-player squads—would become a permanent option.
