Fortnite’s Rise of Midas was a limited-time Chapter 5 Season 2 event that ran until April 2, 2024, at 9 AM ET. It introduced the Ascendant Midas Outfit, a five-phase quest chain, returning Floor is Lava gameplay, and a competitive cup. Epic announced the Outfit’s Shop release for March 26, 2024; that historical date does not establish whether it is available in the Item Shop now.
What was the Rise of Midas event?
Epic launched Rise of Midas alongside Battle Royale v29.01 on March 19, 2024. In the event story, Midas escaped the Underworld. Marigold noticed his escape, Midas suspected Brutus, and his crew set out to get him to the Marigold yacht. Epic described the character as a “mastermind with the golden touch.” The event ended April 2, 2024, at 9 AM ET, according to Epic’s v29.01 announcement.
Rise of Midas was an event within Chapter 5 Season 2, not the season’s title. The season was called Myths & Mortals and centered on mythological characters and content, including Zeus’s Thunderbolt, as described in Epic’s season announcement.
What quests and rewards were included?
The event’s five quest phases opened over several days. Epic’s announcement listed these release dates and quest rewards:

When did the Ascendant Midas skin come out?
Epic named the Outfit Ascendant Midas. In its March 19, 2024 announcement, updated March 22, Epic said the Outfit and Golden King’s Cape Back Bling would enter the Item Shop starting March 26, 2024, at 8 PM ET. The Golden Touch Pickaxe and Golden Ascension Wrap were also listed for the Shop. The Outfit and several related items had a Shade Style. This records the announced 2024 release window; it is not confirmation of current Shop availability or permanent availability.
How could players get Ascendant Midas through the Cup?
Epic held the Solo Rise of Midas Cup on March 24, 2024. Players could compete in up to 10 matches during their region’s three-hour window. Top-scoring players in each region were due to receive Ascendant Midas and the Golden King’s Cape with v29.10, before the items’ announced Shop release. Prize thresholds varied by region; Epic’s official Cup rules set out the regional prize tiers and scoring system. The rules awarded 30 points for a Victory Royale and two points per elimination; those are tournament scoring values, not measures of participation or popularity.
