You can still download it if your account already owns it, and physical copies work on compatible Xbox consoles. The delisting ended online purchases of the game and its add-ons; it did not immediately shut down the game or its online features.
Can you still buy Forza Horizon 4 digitally?
No. Playground Games announced the cutoff on June 25, 2024, saying the game and its additional content would leave the Microsoft Store and Steam on December 15, 2024. Turn 10 Studios confirmed on December 20, 2024, that the game was no longer available for purchase online. The publisher attributed the decision to “licensing and agreements with our partners.” (Playground Games announcement; Turn 10 year-in-review)

The removal happened in two stages: DLC began leaving stores on June 25, 2024, while Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions remained available until the December cutoff. After December 15, neither the game nor its add-ons could be purchased through online stores.
Can existing owners still download and play it?
Yes. The June 2024 announcement said people who already owned the game and its content could download and play as normal, including offline, online, and multiplayer features. Turn 10 reported in December 2024 that the game remained playable and its servers were still running. That is the latest dated official status cited here, not a guarantee of server uptime in October 2026 or indefinitely.

What happened to DLC and the Festival Playlist?
Expansions and add-ons
DLC sales ended before the base game’s final store removal. If you already own an add-on, the delisting announcement said existing owners could continue downloading and using their game content. The official announcement names Fortune Island and LEGO Speed Champions as expansions; it does not provide a current online purchase route for either.

Festival Playlist and ongoing events
The final Festival Playlist was Series 77, which ended August 22, 2024. Afterward, players could no longer access the playlist screen except for its history. Playground Games said daily and weekly challenges, Forzathon Live Events, seasonal changes, and Backstage Pass exchanges would continue. These details describe the announced post-Series 77 plan, not a guarantee that every service remains available now.

In June 2024, Game Pass players who had purchased FH4 DLC and held an active, full-paid (not discounted) subscription on June 25, 2024, were eligible for a game token. The announcement said unused tokens would begin expiring June 25, 2026, and directed people who had not received an eligible token to Xbox Support. This was a time-limited historical offer, not a current way to acquire the game; present-day redemption outcomes are not established.
