Forza Horizon 4 was removed from the Microsoft Store and Steam on December 15, 2024, because of licensing and agreements with partners. Owners can still download and play their copies under Playground Games’ stated policy, and the publisher said physical Xbox copies bought after the delisting would work. Whether the game’s servers are still online today is not confirmed by the latest official status statement available here, dated December 20, 2024.
Why and when Forza Horizon 4 left digital stores
Playground Games announced on June 25, 2024 that Forza Horizon 4 would be delisted from the Microsoft Store and Steam on December 15, 2024. The studio attributed the decision to licensing and agreements with its partners. The game was also removed from Xbox Game Pass on that date, according to the announcement.

The downloadable content was delisted first, beginning June 25, 2024. The Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions of the game itself remained available to buy until the full-game delisting.
Can you still play or download it if you own it?
Yes, according to Playground Games’ announcement: existing owners could continue to download and play the game, including offline, online, and multiplayer features. The delisting stopped new digital purchases; it did not, under the publisher’s stated policy, revoke access for people who already owned it.

That policy does not resolve account-specific or installation problems. If a digital copy is missing from your library, check the account that purchased or redeemed it and use the relevant platform’s support channels.
Can you buy a physical copy?
Playground Games said physical copies purchased after December 15, 2024 would still work and include online features. That makes a physical Xbox copy a potential purchase route, but the announcement does not establish present-day stock, price, edition, region, condition, or seller reliability. Check those details with the seller before buying.

What changed for the Festival Playlist?
Series 77 was the final Festival Playlist and ended on August 22, 2024. The publisher said daily and weekly challenges, Forzathon Live, and in-game seasons would continue after the playlist ended. The Playlist screen would no longer be available, apart from access to playlist history.

Turn 10 Studios said in its December 20, 2024 year-in-review that the game was still playable and its servers were still running. That is a dated report, not confirmation of server status on October 8, 2026. The official statements cited here do not establish whether online services remain available now.
