Forza Horizon 5 has no officially established best drift car across every activity. For drift zones, the Donut Media Nissan 240SX is the clearest official recommendation: Forza describes it as a ProSpec Formula Drift car with substantial power and steering lock, and says it is suitable for Horizon drift zones. The right pick still depends on what you own, how you want to acquire a car, and whether you want a drift-focused option or a story reward.
Which car should you use for drift zones?
Start with the Donut Media Nissan 240SX if you want a car Forza specifically connects to Horizon drift zones. In a 2023 feature, Forza describes it as a ProSpec Formula Drift car and lists 823 hp and 884 lb-ft of torque, pointing to its power and steering lock as reasons it suits drift-zone driving. Those are official description figures, not independently measured game-performance results, and they do not establish that the 240SX beats every other car on scores.
Check the car’s current roster entry for its acquisition route before planning around it. Forza’s official FH5 car list categorizes drift cars and shows routes that vary by vehicle, including Autoshow, Wheelspin, DLC, Accolade, seasonal and other access. A drift-car label is useful evidence of its intended role, but not a controlled ranking of its drift-zone performance.

When the Mustang Mach-E 1400 is worth unlocking
The Mach-E 1400 is a distinct option if you want a reward to work toward rather than simply choosing an available drift car. Forza’s Series 6 announcement says completing all six chapters of the Drift Club Mexico Horizon Story earns the 2021 car. The announcement describes it as a 1,400-hp vehicle with AWD, RWD and FWD layouts and a hydraulic handbrake system. Drift Club Mexico features seven drift cars, but that count is not a comparative performance result.

How to choose from the wider Drift Cars category
- Check availability first. Find the car on Forza’s current roster and follow the route listed on that specific entry. Do not assume every Formula Drift car is included in the base game or available through the Autoshow.
- Match the car to your goal. Forza’s description makes the 240SX the best-supported recommendation here for drift zones. If you already own another car marked as a drift car, it may be a more practical choice for experimenting than pursuing a separate unlock.
- Choose by feel, not an unsupported ranking. Steering response, power delivery and how easily you can hold a drift matter to your own driving. The official sources cited here do not offer controlled comparisons or verified tuning setups, so they cannot identify a fastest or highest-scoring car.
For context, Forza announced the Formula Drift Car Pack as an eight-car pack at launch in 2021. That launch announcement describes the pack at that time; use the current roster entry to verify present access for an individual vehicle rather than assuming the pack is required for every drift recommendation.
