Forza Horizon 6 Expansion 1 launches January 21, 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and PlayStation 5. It is included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle, or it can be purchased separately. The base game launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19, 2026. The PS5 Standard and Deluxe Editions arrive January 26, 2027, while PS5 Premium buyers receive early access on January 21. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include the base game, but not the expansion entitlement by themselves.

The January 21 date combines two events: Expansion 1 becomes available, and PS5 Premium owners can begin the game during early access. PS5 Standard and Deluxe owners start on January 26. On Xbox Series X|S and PC, the base game has been available since May 19, 2026.

Choose an edition by separating three questions: do you already own the base game, do you need Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, and do you want PS5 early access? The following table reflects the announced contents rather than a retailer’s temporary promotion.

Expansion 1 is therefore not part of Standard or Deluxe by default. Deluxe includes the Car Pass, but the Car Pass is separate from the two-expansion entitlement. If you own Standard or Deluxe, Premium Upgrade adds the Premium content without making you buy the base game again.
What the Premium Edition is buying
Premium is the single listed edition that combines the full game, both announced expansions and the named bonus packs. Its Expansion 1 and Expansion 2 inclusion is an entitlement to those products; Expansion 2 does not yet have a public launch date or named setting.
What the Premium Upgrade is not
Premium Upgrade is an add-on, not a standalone copy of Forza Horizon 6. On Xbox or PC, you must own the game or have a qualifying Game Pass subscription. A PS5 owner of Standard or Deluxe can use the upgrade to add Premium contents, but the exact storefront product should still be checked before checkout.
What is known about Expansion 1 and Expansion 2?
Expansion 1
Expansion 1 is scheduled for January 21, 2027 and is included in Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle. It is also sold separately. The announcement describes each expansion as adding a new location, new vehicles and new gameplay. The available announcement does not name Expansion 1’s location or provide a separate feature list, so a store page should not be treated as confirmation of details that have not been published by the developer.
Expansion 2
Playground Games has announced a second post-launch expansion with the same broad promise of a new location, vehicles and gameplay. No release date or location has been announced in the official material covered here. Premium and the Expansions Bundle include it when released, but buying either product does not give you a date that has not yet been set.

Expansion access versus Car Pass access
The 30-car Car Pass is a separate type of content from the expansions. It delivers one vehicle per week and is included in Deluxe and Premium. Expansion 1 and Expansion 2 are location-and-gameplay additions; owning the Car Pass alone does not grant either expansion.
Where can you play Forza Horizon 6?
Xbox Series X|S
Xbox Series X|S is an official platform. Xbox buyers can use Xbox Play Anywhere: a qualifying digital purchase provides access on the Xbox console and Windows PC without buying the game twice. Sign in with the account that owns the license when moving between the console and PC versions.

Windows PC
Windows 10 and Windows 11 are listed as supported PC operating systems. The game is available through the Xbox PC app and Steam. Check the storefront shown on the listing before purchasing an add-on, because ownership is recorded by a particular account and storefront even when the game supports cross-platform play or cross-save.
PlayStation 5
The PS5 version is scheduled in Standard, Deluxe and Premium Editions. Premium early access begins January 21, 2027; Standard and Deluxe release January 26, 2027. The PS5 version supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, as well as cross-platform user-generated content.
How Game Pass affects expansion access
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include the base game at no additional game purchase. That subscription access does not automatically include Expansion 1, Expansion 2 or the other Premium-only contents.

If you use Game Pass on Xbox or PC
- Install Forza Horizon 6 from the Game Pass catalogue on the account that holds the subscription.
- Confirm that the subscription is active and that you are using a supported Xbox Series X|S or Windows 10/11 device.
- Buy Premium Upgrade, the Expansions Bundle or Expansion 1 separately if you want expansion content.
- Before paying, verify that the add-on is offered for the same Xbox account and storefront as the installed game.
Premium Upgrade is the relevant route when a Game Pass member wants the full Premium content package. The subscription supplies the base-game license while it remains eligible; the upgrade supplies the additional Premium contents. If the subscription ends, access to the base game can end even though an add-on was purchased, so retain a base-game purchase if you want permanent access independent of Game Pass.

Use the same account and check the product listing before switching editions. The official compatibility information confirms cross-save and cross-play, but it does not promise that every paid DLC entitlement transfers between different storefronts or account arrangements. Do not assume that buying an expansion on one storefront automatically grants it on another.
How cross-play, cross-save and Play Anywhere differ

Cross-save means progress can follow the supported account between platforms. It does not mean that a PS5 disc, an Xbox digital purchase and a Steam purchase become one universal license. Cross-play means players can meet in multiplayer; it does not change which store sold an expansion.
A safe way to move between platforms
- Sign in on the new platform with the same game account used for your existing save.
- Confirm that your profile and saved progress appear before buying add-ons.
- Check the add-on’s platform and account requirements on the new storefront.
- Keep receipts or order records for Premium, Premium Upgrade and separately purchased expansions.
If progress appears but an expansion is locked, treat that as an entitlement or storefront issue rather than assuming the save is damaged. Verify the account, install the add-on on the platform where it was purchased, and contact platform support if the license still does not appear.
How to buy Expansion 1 without choosing the wrong product
New Xbox or PC buyer
- Decide whether you want only the base game, the Deluxe bonuses, or every announced Premium item.
- Select Standard, Deluxe or Premium from the Xbox or PC storefront.
- For Expansion 1 on January 21, 2027, select Premium or a listing that explicitly includes the expansion.
- If the base game is supplied by Game Pass, select Premium Upgrade or a separate expansion product instead of buying a second base game.
- Check the account and platform shown at checkout, then retain the confirmation.
Existing Standard or Deluxe owner
- Open the store page for Premium Upgrade or Expansions Bundle from the account that owns the base game.
- Compare the contents: Premium Upgrade includes the wider Premium package, while Expansions Bundle is for the two announced expansions.
- Choose Expansion 1 as a separate purchase if you do not want Expansion 2 or the Premium bonus packs.
- Install the add-on after purchase and launch the game from the owning account.
PS5 buyer
- Choose Premium if you want to start on January 21, 2027; Standard and Deluxe begin January 26.
- Check whether the product is a PS5 Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade or a separate expansion listing.
- For a physical purchase, verify the package edition rather than relying on a retailer’s short title.
- After installation, sign in with the account intended for cross-save and cross-platform play.
Is there a physical PS5 copy?
Yes. The publisher has announced that Forza Horizon 6 will be available on PS5 disc through supporting retailers. The announcement confirms the format, but it does not establish universal stock, pricing, retailer availability or a particular region’s release inventory.

What to verify on a PS5 disc listing
- Edition: confirm whether the package is Standard, Deluxe or Premium. A disc labeled only with the game name may be the base edition.
- Release date: Premium’s early-access date is January 21, 2027; Standard and Deluxe release January 26.
- Region: check the disc region and the account region you will use for add-ons.
- Retailer stock: “available on disc” does not guarantee that every retailer has inventory.
- Expansion entitlement: do not infer Expansion 1 inclusion from the presence of a disc; confirm that the package explicitly says Premium or includes the relevant add-on.
A physical PS5 copy and a digital Xbox or Steam copy can participate in the announced cross-save and cross-play features, but the official announcement does not promise that a paid DLC license purchased on one storefront will automatically carry to another. Treat the base game save and the expansion entitlement as separate checks.
Buying checklist before you pay
- Confirm the platform. Select Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox PC app, Steam or PS5, and check the edition’s platform label.
- Mark the date you need. January 21, 2027 is Expansion 1’s release and PS5 Premium early access; January 26 is the PS5 Standard and Deluxe release.
- Check the expansion line. Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle include the announced expansions; Standard and Deluxe do not.
- Separate Game Pass from DLC. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass cover the base game, while expansion access requires an upgrade or expansion purchase.
- Compare bonus content. Deluxe adds Welcome Pack and Car Pass; Premium also adds VIP Membership, Time Attack Car Pack, Italian Passion Car Pack and both expansions.
- Check the base-game requirement. Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle are not replacements for the base game.
- Verify account ownership. Use the account that owns the game or subscription, especially when moving between Xbox, PC and PS5.
- For a disc, inspect the package. Confirm region, retailer stock and whether the box is Premium or a base edition.
- Do not assume DLC portability. Cross-save, cross-play and user-generated-content support do not constitute a promise of universal paid-DLC transfer.
Common buyer situations
“I want Expansion 1 on launch day and have no copy yet.”
On PS5, choose Premium for January 21 early access. On Xbox Series X|S or PC, choose Premium if you also want Expansion 2 and the Premium bonus packs. If you want only Expansion 1, buy the base game and Expansion 1 separately where that product is offered.
“I have Deluxe and only need the expansions.”
Compare the Expansions Bundle with a standalone Expansion 1 purchase. Premium Upgrade includes the expansions but also adds VIP Membership and the named Premium packs, so it is the broader option.
“I have Game Pass and want the cheapest route to the DLC.”
Keep the Game Pass base-game access and compare Premium Upgrade with a standalone Expansion 1 purchase. The subscription itself does not add the expansions.

The PS5 version supports cross-platform play and cross-save with Xbox and Steam. Use the same supported account, then verify the expansion entitlement separately on each storefront; the official announcement does not guarantee DLC portability between them.
“I want a disc but also want Expansion 1.”
Look for a PS5 Premium disc listing or budget for a separate Expansion 1 purchase. The existence of a PS5 disc does not mean every disc package contains Premium content.
Questions the announcements do not answer yet
- Expansion 2’s release date and location have not been announced.
- The available official information does not establish Amazon or other retailer pricing and stock for PS5 discs.
- Universal paid-DLC portability between Xbox, Steam and PS5 storefronts has not been promised.
- The public expansion announcement does not provide a complete feature list or system requirements for each expansion.
Those limits matter when a listing makes broader claims than the official edition description. Use the product’s platform, edition and entitlement text as the deciding information at checkout.
